Great surprise, fantastic meal.
I've been by here many times and finally pulled up the reviews online. They were most all positive so I went inside after leaving the movie theater just up the road. The outside is the old Pizza Hut building but the inside was transformed to Japanese decor, complete with water wall when you walk in. Plenty of staff at the front and I was seated right away.
Dinner menu along with another menu of drinks and specials was left for me and on the table was a red napkin with a fork inside. I ordered an ice tea and started looking over all of the choices. They have a couple pages of sushi, lunch specials from 11am-2pm (I think) during the weekdays, hibachi and bento along with side orders of quite a few items.
I settled on the hibachi chicken which came with onion soup and traditional Japanese lettuce salad topped with ginger dressing.
The bowl of soup and generous salad arrived quickly and the dinner plate came about 10 minutes later. I had hardly finished my soup and salad! As you can see in the photo there was a large amount of chicken and veggies with rice on the 12" plate.
Very good, favorable and tender chicken. Veggies were tender but not overcooked.
I continually looked around to see what everyone else ordered. Many sushi plates were brought out and a huge boat which was covered in various sushi.
The place was full but not packed and ever changing customers walking thru the door. Larger parties, no problem, they have tables for 10 or 12 maybe more.
Wait staff was observant and refilled drinks before getting half empty. Many to go boxes were asked for as did I! The dinner was large enough for a couple more meals for lunch. My bill came to just under $14 before tip.
Definitely will be back, but don't tell...I don't want to have to wait for a table...
Read moreThis place was my go-to for any asian food cravings I was having, even though I have other places closer by. The last two times I've gone to Miso it was unrecognizable to me. The sushi roll I got was ok(both times, it was the new York tempura roll), it seemed pretty fresh, the gyoza was pretty good, maybe a little too dry and crunchy but not terrible(again, both times), the real hang ups were the soups and my husband's sushi roll. The first time I ordered Ramen (or their rendition of it) and they definitely didn't give me ramen, it was a rather nasty mushroom and onion soup. The 2nd time we got miso soup and I love the seaweed, but they actually put way too much in this one, which was ok, just not ideal. The final straw was a half spicy tuna/half salmon combo my husband got. He let me have the first piece of spicy tuna and it was so gross I had to spit it out, and my husband, a man of principal, managed to eat it but I have never seen him look so grossed out. He repeatedly said it was the worst sushi he's ever had. It wasn't spoiled, it was just ...nasty. The rice was dry and almost crunchy, the spicy tuna was super moist, like...soggy, and a huge mouthful of it with dry rice was just so disappointing. I won't be back here again, at least not until I get that spicy tuna sensation...
Read moreAfter ordering takeout here we enjoyed the food we decided to make a second trip. This time to dine in. Food was equally delightful as the first time. The hibachi allows the upgrade of fried rice and noodles for an extra dollar which I definitely recommend. One criticism is that our server took longer than I’d like to approach us. I kind of just started to look around after a while. Also ordering online is not user friendly. It’s confusing and annoying so much so that I abandoned the attempt altogether.
Update: For some reason ordering over the phone is always an issue. The person on the other line always has trouble understanding what I want. Additionally it seems like they want to get you off the phone as soon as possible. I just didn't complete my order last time. I enjoy the hibachi side noodles and order them often but for some reason they always package multiple order together. This obviously causes an issue when multiple people are eating them. But it is always a bad experience explaining it to the person who answers the phone.
This last order will probably be my last. There is another restaurant in town making good noodles without the...
