I was excited to try Harry's Steakhouse for a while now, the atmosphere was very peaceful and warm, invited me in to the restaurant. My boyfriend and I got sat in a cute little corner booth that allowed us privacy. The waitress asked us if we had been here before and we said no and further more have never been to a nicer restaurant before and would need some help with how things worked, she said she'd be happy to help. But she must've been lying cuz right away when explaining the specials, I asked what "ala carte" meant and she just stared at me, maybe she thought I was joking or didn't hear me, but she didn't respond and just walked away after saying the specials. When asking questions about drinks she was quite dismissive saying "I'm sure you'll like what ever cocktail looks appealing to you" and I was wanting more guidance than that. My boyfriend had questions about how the flavor of the salmon was explaining he likes a more citrus taste and the waitress said the salmon was her favorite but didn't explain how it tasted and it ended up being close to orange chicken, and he wasn't wanting chinese food. I also requested my steak to be medium and it looked as if it was barely shown the grill at all, very bright pink/red and bloody. My steak was served with some liquid in a gravy boat but the waitress quickly set stuff down and walked away and I had to wait till she returned to ask what it was for, then finding out it was to dip my steak in. The Brussel sprouts were really good though and I don't even like Brussel sprouts so I will say that was prepared beautifully, crispy outside with a tender middle. We asked the server for a box and she said they box it up for us and she walked away, we assumed to go get boxes. 5-10 minutes after that she checked on us again asking if we needed anything and I said, yes the box please, and she said "oh he was still picking at it so I thought you guys weren't ready". At this point we were both very frustrated over how unhelpful our waitress was, the food was not what we expected for the price, and we just wanted to leave. Very disappointed in my experience. I might try again, maybe another waitress and a different entre would make it more enjoyable, the...
Read moreDisclaimer: Definitely good and not as good parts of our experience, but overall a good visit! I took my boyfriend here as a celebration for finishing up his flight training courses at UND. It was a big accomplishment, he loves steak, and we love to support local businesses so going to Harry's seemed like a good choice! We made a reservation for a Monday evening.
Pros: He really likes his steak rare - like rare rare - and it came out perfect and was very delicious Waiter was awesome. Super attentive and friendly but not overly in your face the whole meal. Let us enjoy each part. Atmosphere was excellent and cozy, we got a cute booth for the two of us and it was awesome. Dessert was phenomenal and one of the best things we have had in town. Cocktail he got was delicious and definitely strong (i ended up driving home)
Cons: I am a vegetarian and admittedly a little picky, so there were really only two options for me on the menu. I choose the walleye. Was disappointed as the walley tasted a bit overcooked, it was expensive considering you are only getting the piece of fish (no sides) and I found 3 fairly large bones in it while I was eating. Didn't really want to finsih my meal. A bit pricy considering no sides included with the meals and the sides are expensive, so are apps, but we are also college students so expensive is a bit differen to us.
Really the reasoning for the 3 stars is my meal. Was pretty disappointing but I am glad his meal and the dessert were so good as it made up...
Read moreWhat can I say, Harry's steakhouse was one of the greatest eating experiences I've had in the grand cities area. The steaks are perfection done exactly the way you want them done. The prime rib was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife to use a old cliché. The side dishes accented the meal only to raise our eating experience further. We had the twice baked potatoes and portobello mushrooms with pearl onions. The other couple with us had the baked potatoes. The next time we go back to Harry's we are ordering the hashbrowns for our side dish They looked fantastic. I can't wait to go back and try the many different menu options. The service was excellent and spot on, our waitress Michelle took great care of us and guided us on our choice selections and explained everything we needed to know about what and how to order. To sum it up everyone in my party agreed Harry's steakhouse in grand forks stands alone as one of our best dining journeys we've had in a long time. Oh and make sure you have reservations it does tend to get busy at certain times. Thank you Harrys we will be back and soon. I almost forgot the most important point, try there dessert selections the banana cream pie was one of the best we have ever had. Harry's...
