2/24/2020: My husband and I are here visiting from Denver to see family and decided to try Dream Cafe on a Monday morning for brunch with my aunt, uncle, and a family friend. We went at around 11 and didn’t have to wait and were sat promptly at an adorable round booth in the center of the restaurant with plenty of room. This place is a very similar option to Snooze in the Denver area but with little differences here and there. My husband and I laughed at all the similarities from some of the identical menu choices to the decor style. It is nice for people in the area to have this trendy option. The restaurant itself is gorgeous in my opinion with fresh decor and bright sunlight beaming in from the restaurant wide skylights. It truly is an awesome choice for a brunch in the Grand Junction downtown area. Overall, our experience was a good one. I will says don’t order soda if you crave a bubbly flavorful one as I ordered a Dr. Pepper and it was flat and had a weird taste that didn’t taste like Dr. Pepper. I ordered the baked avocado Benedict (forgot to take a photo of it), my aunt ordered the breakfast pot pie, my husband had the breakfast burrito with onions, my uncle had the whitewater wrap, and our family friend ordered the hash. All of our food arrived to the table fresh. I give 5/5 stars due to the trendy decor, reasonable prices (for a trendy breakfast joint), clean restaurant, friendly staff,...
Read moreWent for breakfast, got there shortly after they opened and there were already several people there. Friendly greeting and service. Unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing, especially for the price. I got a Colorado omelet, which came with hashbrown style potatoes and sourdough toast. I immediately noticed toast was very dark brown, with a bit of black on edges..a bad sign. The food followed suit as the omelet was overcooked and rubbery, had to douse in hot sauce to give it some moisture and make it more palatable. Potatoes were extremely dry. Only part of my meal which was good was the homemade strawberry basil jam, which made the nearly burnt toast edible. My wife had the cinnamon roll French toast, which was quite tasty and creative....although it too was a bit overcooked around the edges. The French toast is the only reason for 2 stars, everything else was a disappointment. Maybe just a bad morningfor the cook? But never an excuse for serving burnt toast. I mean bread is cheap, just toast a new piece. The kicker is that they are still charging a surcharge for eggs...75 cents each. Why?? Eggs are back to $2.99 a dozen, yet they charged me an extra $2.25 for my 3 egg omelette. Makes no sense. We both just had tap water to drink. Total for our disappointing meal? With tip it was $42. For a rubbery omelet and french toast, seems pretty pricey. One and...
Read moreThis place has always been a disappointment. I've been to Grand Junction about five times in the last three years, and people always recommend Dream Cafe. While they do have a unique menu, the food quality and cooking are mediocre at best, and the service is consistently unfriendly, slow, and poor. On my most recent visit, the biscuits were dry and fell apart, and they were served with a meager amount of gravy. The sausage patty tasted and had the exact same consistency as a McDonald's sausage patty. We had to ask for water because our server didn't bring it with our drinks, and the service was surly overall. If you're looking for simple, quality food, you're better off going to another place on Main Street, like Cafe Sol or Pufferbelly.
———————— My review from 5 yrs ago: Good food, but shoddy and dismissive service. Sat down and the waitress could barely be bothered to deal with me. Ordered my food which was missing potatoes and bread (both should have been included according to menu). Took 5 mins to get waitress attention to ask for missing items. Overheard her telling the cook “would have been nice if he ordered everything at once.” Ughh. When it came time to leave, she tossed the receipt on my table without a word.
Mind you, the place was empty, so there was plenty of time to focus on customer service. Despite tasty food, I won’t be...
