I had been in a few years back and was thoroughly impressed at both the coffee I had and the sincerity of the gentleman with the tatoos making it. He took the time to inform me that it was his favorite coffee and tell me several facts about where it came from and what made it so good. His care translated perfectly in the coffee he made me. It was truly flavorful and tasted like fruit. I returned this week after not having been in for several years and ordered the same Guji pour over the man had made previously, this time made by someone else, I'm informed the man previously is no longer there. This time I was greatly let down at the cup. It was limp and lifeless, almost no flavor. Clearly a reflection of the indifference of the person brewing it, seems they were just there working a job. I know coffees will change year to year from different crops, even from the same farm and almost certainly if brewed by someone who cared this could have been just as good.... but it was not. It seems as though this place has become just like the rest. Lacking employees who care about their...
Read moreI wrote a prior review that I realized needed to be adjusted. Kiln coffee is a very modern looking coffee shop. Very simple, very beautiful. I had a not so great experience the first time my husband and I went. Today we went back and couldn’t have been more happy with our experience and our coffee. If you haven’t yet, try their iced churro latte. You can smell the nodes and taste the drink just from the aromas! As a former barista and a coffee connoisseur I take my daily cup of coffee very seriously. As a missionary I have traveled around the world and tasted all different blends. Coffee is so important to me. Thank you Kiln for a great experience and an even greater cup of coffee. My family will be back and continue to come back.
To sum it up, if you are looking for an appealing atmosphere, friendly staff and some of the best coffee you will...
Read moreThis is a tough review to write since I normally love coffeehouses and try to support them whenever possible. Independent coffeehouses are an important part of any community and we should spend our money there when possible (versus the corporate chains). But Kiln is a 2 star at best....its like walking into a hospital exam room. The light is glaring, the walls are bare, the furniture is sparse... the whole place assaults you with a very intentional minimalist sterile vibe. Aside from the antiseptic environment, the coffee is good, the service is friendly, and the prices are par with the other coffee joints out there. I just wish the owners would choose a different non-white paint color, dim the lights, put some big art on the big empty walls, and get some comfortable chairs or something. Until then, swing and a...
