A little tucked away, but very much worth a visit!
I have been craving bagels for about a week, but had no real options to pick from in terms of places to go. My friend recommended this little establishment to me, and I thought It was worth trying out. I went for a run and nearly missed this spot on the way over, but I'm sure glad I didn't.
This bagel shop, as I said, is rather small, but not compact. The counter takes up the majority of the space, but is off set to the side to allow customers to get by without any issue. There is both high-top, chair, and low-table seating available to it's dine-in customers, but it's very limited. I would say that the charm of the place is in how light it feels. With giant glass windows to look out into the city along with brightly painted exposed brick walls, it still feels very airy and open, despite its size.
For my order, I grabbed two bagels and a cup of water. My total cost me a little under ten dollars. That alone should tell you that the pricing is reasonably fair, without even mentioning the quality of food. I asked for a plain bagel with chive schmear, along with a poppy seed bagel with vegan mixed berry schmear. The one that was for me (the poppy seed and mixed berry) was everything I could have ever wanted in a bagel. The schmear, despite being vegan, still retained a cream-cheese firmness, and tasted delicious when accompanied by the bagel itself. My friend also swears on this place, and said that his bagel was equally delicious, if not more so.
Immediately when I entered, I had asked the person attending the register a question. They did not hesitate to run back to the kitchen to relay my inquiry to the person in charge of making the bagels. Not only was this extremely considerate, but also efficient, as they did not waste time in getting me an answer to my question. Both friendly and helpful, the staff at Terra Bagels could not have been more pleasant to briefly interact with.
To be honest, If I had lived closer to this location, I could confidently say that I might have made this a part of my weekly routine. This place is perfect for an "on the town" breakfast, or a "stop-and-chat" with old friends. I would implore those in need of a half way decent bagel to definitely get yourself a spectacular one instead, and check out Terra Bagels in the Grand Rapids...
Read moreI don’t know what sorcery happens during the making of the vegan herb cream cheese, but whatever it is, it’s working. I used to order the everything bagel until I stumbled across the togarashi. Definitely a must for anyone who loves a little heat…that spicy dust they put on the bagel…it’s perfection! I’m always appreciative of bagel shops that have inclusive options, such as GF and vegan, which makes Terra stand out for me from any other bagel shop in GR. As far as drinks go, the drip coffee is good, but I’m also a matcha lemonade fan, and I like the one they serve here. Everything is always consistent and tastes great! There are some negative reviews about quality of service, but I honestly don’t know what that’s about because everyone is always friendly to me when I come in. I also really love that they sell local art at the counter. Win all...
Read moreWent here for my first time. I asked for a certain type of bagel, and the worker informed me they only had the bagels on a list. So I just got a plain bagel. When they really had bagel sandwiches, and everything else too! Showed me a bogus misleading menu, and the plain bagel and cream cheese wasn’t worth the money. Would have been nice to have been able to get what I actually wanted! Won’t be going back! Note: the main menu is actually behind you as you order. Which I didn’t see until I threw away the doughy, over priced, bagel after I took just one bite. Total rip off of a place, way to mislead first...
