Awesome place. Great friendly staff. Makes you feel like family setting. Food is fantastic and the bar area fun. Great prices and specials!
Stoped in yesterday for there happy hour specials around 4:30 pm and opened a tab. I mostly sat out on their patio with my dog reading. Part way through happy hour, around an hour later the bartender asked me to settle up with him for shift change. I had a bill of $30.00. Only having cash, I had a twenty and a hundred dollar bill. As I attempted to pay with the hundred he tells me that he's told me four or five times that they don't take hundreds. I could go next door and break the hundred. SORRY CHEBA HUT BUT I GO TO MORE THEN JUST YOUR ESTABLISHMENT SO PLEASE FORGIVE ME THAT I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT FORMS OF LEGAL TENDER EVERY PLACE I GO!!!! So I promptly went next door as asked but I wasn't happy about it. When I returned I gave the bartender two twenties and told him to keep the change. I wanted to be in a good mood so yes I was tipping even with the inconvenience of getting up in the middle of my beer to go change my hundred dollar bill into $20 bills to pay my tab so that I could pay him a tip for his shift change! He smiled and said "it wasn't that bad right?" I had to respond by telling him I wasn't happy about it and started to explain that "If I hadn't had to pay my tab before I was ready it may have been a high enough bill with a tip included that I would of only needed the same amount back as I just paid." I was still mistakenly under the impression that it was a problem with not being able to break the hundred dollar bill out of the register. He then responded by reminding me that "You have been told several times I couldn't pay with a hundred dollar bill and it wouldn't matter if the bill was a hundred I still couldn't accept that. I have explained this all to you before and if you don't like it you don't have to come back!" .....Finishing my beer I smile and started to tell him not to worry they would never have to deal with me paying with a hundred again but was interrupted by another, I'm assuming off the clock employee because he was on the same side of the bar as myself drinking, YELLED AT ME ACROSS THE BAR TO NOT BOTHER THEIR BARTENDERS AND ALSO REMINDED ME AGAIN THAT I'VE BEEN TOLD THEY DON'T EXCEPT HUNDREDS!
Thank you Cheba Hut for teaching me what forms of American currency you don't accept.I can promise you I will never forget it!!! I do kind of wish you would put up a more visible sign since it seems that after a certain number of reminders from your staff public embarrassments and humiliation seems to be...
Read moreCheba Hut has a great thing going. Their branding is on point, and their menu items are a great value.
I was in Greeley for 5 days working on the Nov 2018 election, and went to Cheba 2x on that trip, once for lunch, once for drinks. My first impression was real solid. The restaurant looks a lot like an underground live music venue because of all the stickers everywhere. I didn’t ask, but I wonder if they host live music shows? I don’t know where the space would be since it’s a bit cozy but...the aesthetic is very tight. All the sandwiches are named after weed strains, the mascot is like a duck (?) with a burning, blunt-shaped sun in his mouth. There are also witty Easter-eggs all over the place like the Ice Cube sticker pictured.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, mostly bros, all very chill (what else would you expect from a Stoner-themed establishment?). Decided on a red widow (their popular sandwich white widow + hot sauce) per the recommendation of the dude at the register. It did not disappoint, totally filled me up and was deelish. Sat at the bar to charge the tablet I was using to canvass, and joined in to the conversation going in the room. It was just like hanging out with some friends, although I’d never met them before.
Second time going, I went with a group, and they took great care of us. I’m pretty sure my group all wanted to go because of how much I talked about the place after my first visit 😆 and because the locals in the election office backed up my initial positive feeling of the place. Drinks were mixed well, tried my first Bloody Mary, we all had a good time.
Will definitely go back any chance I get. Plz come to the East...
Read moreHonestly, I am incredibly patient and reserved. Too passive, maybe too empathetic, to make formal complaints to managers of restaurant staff.... but Cheba Hut (8th ave in Greeley) really outdid themselves tonight. Ordered my food To-go, 15 mins prior to departure from my house. Upon arrival I greeted the server/cashier. Explained to her I had called in my order; joked about the misspelling and mispronunciation of my name: "Payga". Patiently waited nearly an hour for my order, while in the mean time; other walk ins were greeted and served before me. Staff continued to glance in my direction before I finally decided to inquire about my order. Fast forward. My order had been sitting atop an oven the near hour I had been waiting. Manager approached me and asked what he could do to "fix this". My response was "I'm, honestly, not sure I am super passive and this is uncomfortable for me." To which "Mitch" offered to refund the order entirely and remake my food. I explained to him that wasn't necessary as I was in a hurry, I appreciated the refund, but was happy to take my food as is. He thanked me and as I was walking out this dude TOOK THE BAG OUT OF MY HAND and said "Thank you. Don't let this deter you from coming back." ......HUH??? This Cheba Hut is unreliable and unprofessional. This isn't my first mishap with this store, but I can assure you it will be the last 🙄😔 How unfortunate that a business that has great potential has such an...
