Lots of potential but missing the mark, at least for breakfast. We were excited to try this place for breakfast today, as I love waffles and hadn’t found anywhere else in Greeley that does them or at least does them well. However, the only thing on their menu is waffles, in lots of different configurations. So if you don’t like waffles, there is literally nothing to eat. And what really bothered me is that I like to eat my waffles with eggs and either bacon or sausage, and guess what? They don’t serve any eggs and they don’t have any bacon or sausage. I also don’t like lots of extra “stuff” on my waffles (like fruit, sauces, whip cream etc) as I like a really well made waffle that can hold its own with just some butter and maple syrup. So I had to make a special order for a classic waffle to get that since everything on the menus is “enhanced” in some way with extras that I didn’t want. In the end the waffle was actually pretty good, though it wasn’t enough on its own without the eggs and bacon/sausage. This is a huge missed opportunity for an otherwise trendy looking breakfast place, as it is too niche to attract a wider audience. It might be better for lunch or dinner, but if you’re serving breakfast you really need to offer eggs and protein other than fried chicken. At least from my perspective. And considering that the place was almost empty at 9am on Saturday morning (when all the other breakfast places are full) I think I might not be the only one.
The coffee was serve yourself but I had to ask for half and half and they just handed me a carton that I had to use my fingers to open the spout which seems unsanitary for a communal coffee setup. The cream should be in a stainless steel or similar carafe that keeps it cold but doesn’t require the patron to touch the place where it comes out each time you use it.
Also, I don’t love having to order up at the counter and clear my own place when they also ask you to tip. What is the point if you do it all yourself?
I don’t see any reason to come back unless they adjust their menu to offer a few...
Read moreAfter seeing the article in the paper months ago, we were excited for this new concept to be opening in Greeley....We were trying not to keep our hopes up to much as the last handful of new hyped restaurants that have opened over the last couple years have been total let downs or even failures.
We arrived fairly early last night, and I believe this was still in the first week of being open, and were promptly greeted by a friendly man who got us menús and informed us to have a seat anywhere and when we were ready to order at the counter.
The menu us interesting! A good mix of savory and sweet type waffles...very creative! The drink menu was very nice sounding as well!
We do not normally drink, but decided to try a cocktail with dinner. We ordered a Breakfast Manhattan, Fruity Pebbles, Jalepeno Popper Waffle, and a Chicken and Waffle.
Everything came at the same time in roughly 8-10 minutes...not too long....and everything looked and smelled great!
Stand out cocktail was the Fruity Pebble....it was garnished with whipped cream and the cereal....but the cocktail actually tasted like the cereal as well! Not to sweet....very nice!
Both the waffles were very good! The Jalepeno Popper was spicy from the fresh jalapeño cooked in the batter and garnished on top, but the cream cheese cooled the pallet nicely. A very creative a delicious dish!
The chicken and waffles was just classic and done well! Nice juicy chicken,...
Unlike most of the other places that have opened in greeley over the past few years, we will be returning! I am excited to try more of the creative waffle dishes that Oak and Maple have on offer!
I just hope that they are able to keep it up! Greeley seems to lack quality and consistency out of the more "local" restaurants we...
Read moreI found this place to be severely over rated. I'd been excited to try it for some time. Upon walking in, I realized it is the kind of place that you order ahead of time. They also expect you to tip ahead, taking away any incentive for good service. The only table available was dirty, so we cleaned it ourselves before sitting down. Then, the servers kept forgetting our drink order, so it arrived late. It was chaotic, as several times, the servers came to our table with the incorrect food, just not seeming to know where they were supposed to deliver things. We were delivered some food without utensils, so we went to the counter to get utensils, and were given VERY dirty, gross, utensils. So we got up and went to the counter for a third time to ask for help, but were ignored for a few minutes before getting clean utensils. Then, our food was delivered. My husband orderd the chicken, waffles and gravy. He seemed to enjoy it. I, however, regretted my order. I got a waffle sandwich. It came with cheese, avocado and egg, but there was maybe two teaaspoons of avocado and less than a 4th slice of cheese, making for the most dry, sad sandwich ever. I ended up taking the eggs off, and eating them separate from the waffles, effectively paying $16 for eggs and waffles. It was disappointing and our breakfast total for two people, plus a completely undeserved tip was $50. Everyone raved about this place, but I just don't get it. Change your system. Either lower the cost and remove the tip feature since no one in your restaurant is doing anything tip worthy, or, keep the food cost up and change the system to tip after service, incentivising your team members to take ownership over the...
