The sushi was ok if you like overpriced 'plain' american sushi. The customer service was terrible.
We placed an order with Sushi One on March 5th. We were excited to try a new Sushi restaurant especially after we saw all of the great reviews! I was a little concerned because the prices were a little high but we went ahead because of all the great reviews. We placed a large order for pick up and I picked up the sushi on my way home from work. When I got home my family was excited and hungry. We proceeded to unpack the sushi and prepare for dinner. We were almost shocked to find out that the sushi did not come with wasabi or ginger. How are you supposed to eat sushi without wasabi and ginger? We called the restaurant to inform them of their mistake and try to find a resolution to this problem. I spoke with a hostess that informed me that they do not serve their sushi with wasabi and ginger. Apparently you have to order wasabi and ginger separate from your sushi order! !?! Having to pay extra for the best part of the sushi on already overpriced sushi was beginning to cross the line. I asked to speak to a manager and immediately the hostess became very short with me and then hung up. I called back and asked to speak with a manager. This time I spoke with a hostess by the name of Leslie. Leslie was a little more polite than her colleague but did not appear very interested in trying to do any work to improve this situation. She informed me that I could either drive back to the restaurant (that was 30 minutes away from my home) and pickup the wasabi and ginger or I could speak with a manager. I asked to speak with the manager. I was then told that there manager was too busy and I would have to call back tomorrow. Apparently, the manager had no interest in trying to resolve this problem either. They following morning I had errands to run in Greeley and I went into Sushi One to talk to a manager. I spoke with Tae who explained to me that they do not serve ginger or wasabi with their sushi because they do not want to be wasteful. ??? I pointed out that they included over 30 soy sauce packets with our order. Most of which were thrown away. This seems to me much more wasteful than a biodegradable product like wasabi or ginger could ever be. Tae did apologize for the bad customer service experience with the staff the night before but he seemed uninterested in trying to find a solution. I asked if there was anything they could do to improve this situation and he offered me a scoop of ice cream. After wasting a lot of money on mediocre sushi his best solution was a scope of ice cream. !!! I will not eat at this restaurant again. The sushi was probably better than ok (might have even been good with wasabi and ginger), but the poor customer service from numerous members of the staff left a bad taste in my mouth. If you are in the area and looking for sushi, I would recommend going across the street to Wal-Mart. At least there, you get free...
Read moreI'm sad to have to amend my rating from 5 stars to 2. The food is good but expensive and it beomes harder to justify spending so much when the service here is starting to slip. It seems that they are not paying as much attention to the details that go into giving the customer a positive dining experience.
Here are a few issues we had with our last visit with Brianna as our server:
Service was slow even though the restaurant was not very busy. It took about 15 minutes before our order was taken or water was brought.
We've eaten here many, many times over the years and know that Miso Soup is complimentary when you are dining in for dinner and is usually brought out for you to eat while waiting on your main course to be made yet our server never mentioned that or inquired if we wanted soup. We had to go searching for her and request it.
When she did bring our soup, 2 of the 3 bowls were chipped and cracked which was gross and tacky for as expensive as the restaurant is. Those bowls should have been thrown away instead of being used.
When our main entrees were brought the server did not bring plates, utensils or napkins and didn't notice that we didn't have them. We had to go ask her for them and it took a while for her to bring them which left us sll sitting there staring at our food.
We ordered lobster sauce which we never got even after reminding our server twice.
One person in our party needed a water refill and again we had to go find her to ask for more water.
Oh and to make it just that much better, two women came in with a baby and a child that was probably 4 or so and they allowed the children to scream and cry and fuss and repeatedly throw stuff on the floor.
Word of advice for those with children - if you are dining out with kids (which I do as I am a mom), PLEASE be considerate of the other diners. You are not at home and it is YOUR job as a parent to teach your children how to behave in public and if it's a bad day for the child, take them out of the restaurant until they calm down or get your food to go. Nobody wants to have their meal that they are paying good money for ruined by an ill behaved child. It's rude and inconsiderate to allow your child to disturb other diners. You would think this would go without saying but evidently not since this issue happens quite frequently at different establishments. Does no one have manners anymore? Sorry for the rant - it's just really annoying!
So Sushi One, please, please, pretty please work on these issues so you can go back to being one of our favorite restaurants and we can put you back in our list of "Go To" restaurants. Old Review: Love, love, love this place! My favorites are the vegetarian sushi options - spicy vegetable roll, harvest roll, pumpkin tempura roll, sweet potato tempura roll and the asparagus roll. I could eat here every day! Service is...
Read moreFood was great, as it always is, but my complaint was the staffer that helped us order and how they helped.
Wife called in, normally she gets the 3 roll special, which has changed so it's no longer 3/$11, it's 3/$15. When ordering she asks for 3 rolls, gets 2 spicy tuna tempura rolls, and one California roll. She did not mention the special, nor did the gentleman taking her order, which is odd because they always ask. Mind you, most rolls are $9. So instead of paying $15 for 3 rolls, we were now at $27 for 3. On top of that, though this was not discussed by my wife nor the staffer, he made both those tuna rolls to be 11 pieces, instead of 6 pieces, adding another $3 charge to each roll. So now, the 3 rolls totaling 28 pcs are ringing up at $33, when it should have just been 18 pcs at $15.
For that price, we could have gotten two 3/$15 specials and still paid less for more food. Add on the other items, side of rice, large miso (which he asked what size), and Thai fried rice with Shrimp, we now had a $59 order for two people. This was just 3 sushi rolls (2 of which were too large) an app to share, a side, and another entree. Also, when ordering the heat level on the fried rice he asked "hot, mild, or half and half". I asked for medium so she did half and half, but it was medium on the ticket, so why call it half and half?
When finishing the call after confirming the food (but not discussing the roll sizes) the staffer said it would be 30 minutes for the food and ended the call. No discussion of price, so the mrs informed me before I went to pick it up. I was assuming $40 or around there, so was not happy with the $59 and change when calculating how much those items should have been.
Moral of the story, order online so you know exactly what is being selected, or make them confirm every detail over the phone. Also ask about specials and the price breakdown. We'll still be going back because its the best sushi in Greeley, but we'll...
