I've gone in numerous times for dinner and I am a USMC veteran. I don't have a military ID card and I don't have a VA card as I have not signed up for VA benefits. Not all Veterans have a military ID card. The first 3 or so times I went in I paid full price until my service came up in conversation with one of the staff and she asked me why I didn't ask for a Veteran discount. I mentioned that I don't make it a point to ask for discounts but as she had mentioned it that I would ask in the future. Cut to today after 3 or so other visits where I did get the discount I am suddenly grilled about a Military ID tonight. I mentioned that I didn't have a Military ID but did have a AMVETS card (which I presented) and a photo of myself in my dress blues (which I also showed). The waiter said he had never heard of AMVETS and that anyone could get a lifetime membership card from AMVETS. He said he was in the military and that Vets HAVE to have a Military ID. Look I understand that there are ways to get proof of Military service on an ID but some Veterans CHOOSE not to and have other proof of service that doesn't require jumping through hoops at the DMV or VA. I also understand that a business wants to ensure that someone is actually a VET to give a discount but when a Veteran shows a VFW, AMVETS card and a Photo in uniform. It seems like it should be enough. In the end I was given the discount after speaking to the manager but having my service as a Veteran questioned made me sick to my stomach. It's one of the reasons I don't go looking for discounts. I would have never asked but it came up in conversation at a previous visit. I won't ask for the Military discount again here....I really enjoy the food as it is a great "cheat meal" for the diet I'm currently on so I'll most likely go back but having to justify why I don't have a Military ID isn't worth the 10% Discount.
Edit** Service here is usually 5/5 but it was downgraded for this review after...
Read moreWell despite coming to Green Bay for the first time I was expecting high service, decent clientele as well as amiable and informative staff which was unfortunately not. I especially had a bad time when a rude unknown customer who I thought worked here trying to show me what to order. Again how rude? Anyways we came to this Japanese restaurant and saw that all you can eat sushi you ready you can eat sushi. Major disappointment. The shrimp tempura they didn't use the right batter it was too gritty and it wasn't that crunchy that tempura should be made and the tempura dip was not very flavorful. Their traditional sushi which the rude clientele who I thought worked here was giving me information that you couldn't order but you can she didn't understand with her elder husband or boyfriend on the next booth. The hibachi steak was decent at best however they didn't give enough steak meat. I had to order three orders just to satisfy myself. The avocado cucumber salad was decent at best but not the the star of the meal. The waitress didn't seem to know when that she brought the sushi to bring the fresh ginger and the wasabi and she gave my ice cream first before my last order of a hibachi steak. I was going to give three stars but after experiencing this place and how rude people are at Green Bay for the first time and how clueless I don't think I would NOT come here despite the local high reviews on Yelp. Go try something else that is ethnic but Green Bay did not impress me when it came to Japanese if this is the only Japanese restaurant up here. I tasted better back in Chicago and on other states and cities. And staff if not servers need to be more informative and a tentative especially giving water that you have to bother...
Read moreI have eaten a lot of sushi in a lot of different places. Usually "all you can eat" sushi has restrictions, is subpar, is cheaply made, and usually expensive. That is not the case with Sushi Lover. We came here on a Tuesday night after a failed attempt to get Pho and it was a very pleasant surprise.
We were sat very quickly and did not have a wait. They only have all you can eat so it makes things very simple. You can order whatever you want off the menu as its all included in the price. Drinks are not included but are very reasonably priced including the alcoholic beverages.
Drinks- I had iced tea to drink which tasted like it was freshly made. We also had hot sake. The sake was nothing special but it also wasn't bad and I would order it again.
Food- The food is fantastic. I tried most of the appetizers and they were all delicious. The rolls and sushi was a large selection and every roll I tried was great. Try the Monkey roll. Its made with bananas and is definitely interesting. My favorite roll was probably the Volcano Roll. But honestly I loved everything I tried. There was nothing I tried I didnt like.
Service- The service was fantastic. Like I mentioned we were sat quickly and placed our first orders. They appear to bring things out when they are ready which is awesome so you can start eating before you get what you order. The rolls came out at a decent enough pace that you could place another order when your rolls come out and not have to wait too long when you finish. The staff was awesome and able to answer any questions about the rolls I had.
Overall this is one of the best sushi places with some of the best prices I have had up here. I will definitely make this a regular place to go...
