Well I would have liked to be writing this review about the food, but considering I never got to try anything but cheese curds this reviews is about the service, or lack there of.
To start as soon as I was being seated a older gentleman walking out tapped my shoulder and said “good luck”. Seeing as there was another couple getting seated right in front of us he said nothing as he passed them. I thought that was weird but didn’t put much into it. As we get seated our drinks and appetizer were brought out almost immediately. When we placed our meal order, that’s where it went downhill. My girlfriend and I both ordered a medium rare burger (which means it should take even less time to cook). As we finish our drinks and appetizer we patiently await a refill and our meal, time goes on and on and all of a sudden we’ve been waiting 40 minuets, 30 of which we had 0 beverage. Being from Texas I like to think I’m a very reasonable and patient person however our waiter never checked on us and only addressed me when she finally looked over and saw me staring at her. She come over and says “sorry your food is taking so long” and walks away. Never gave me a time, didn’t offer to fix it, and didn’t even refill our drink when she was staring right at them. What really did it for me is seeing multiple customers that got there way after us getting their meals, and the couple that got seated with us was already paying. At that point I decided I no longer wanted to eat here. I waited to tell my waiter but she made it blatantly obvious she was avoiding me so I just got up and left. Im not one to play the race card, in fact I despise it. But I was the only Hispanic person in this establishment and I was the only person to not only not get my food but not get any service at all. I know enough to put two and two together and it’s like that old man knew at the beginning this would happen. I wouldn’t recommend this place off principle alone. Piss poor service and piss...
Read moreWhat happened to service? We are there last night with a group of 9. Upon entering we needed to seat ourselves and searched for a table, finally choosing one among all the dirty tables clearly sitting dirty for some time. After sitting for 10 minutes we went to the bar where 2 employees were just talking to each-other clearly not busy. We asked about menus and were informed “well if you want food you have to order now, the kitchen closes in 5 minutes”. We asked to please send our server over with menus and were informed we need to order ourselves at the bar. Upon ordering we were prompted to put the tip on our card; we did 20%. The kitchen staff brought our food up to the rooftop restaurant from the 1st floor kitchen. Our servers only work was to pivot between a cart pushed for her to our table to hand us our food, even commenting she wasn’t sure what all the items on the cart were or who gets what food. We asked for silverware and were told we had to go get it ourselves. She never came to check for additional rounds of drinks. There were signs up in the dining area stating customers were responsible for bussing their own tables. Can someone tell me what was the $40 tip for?? I’m sorry, I worked restaurant for a dozen years. Kitchen, host, server, manager. This culture of “tipping” everyone that half looks at you is getting out of hand. Titletown Brewing, if you are going to prompt me to pay a tip and force me to tip at the very beginning of our interaction, then you need to actually provide the service that tipping represents. This was not just an employee on a bad day. This IS THE culture at this location. From the signs requiring me to buss the table, to the kitchen serving the food, to the counter of silverware and napkins for customers to serve themselves. DO...
Read moreThis place could be amazing with a little bit of attention to detail. The rooftop patio was nice, but no place to sit. It was annoying to see people sitting up there taking up space , but not ordering drinks or anything. Should be for paying customers only. The elevator to the roof was a bit of a wait and it was really odd to be sharing it with staff that had large carts of dirty dishes. Perhaps adding a staff only elevator would be a great idea. Also the rooftop bar didn't have any music playing which gave it a slightly depressing vibe. The bar stools need to be replaced desperately! They were the worst ones I have ever planted my backside on, and I have had cocktails in some pretty questionable places, but at least the seating didn't give me butt and back pains!! The one huge complaint is that all of the mixed drinks I had lacked liquor. I tried 3 different ones, and all were poor. I finally got a Malibu and soda, and you could not taste any Malibu in it. For 7 bucks a pop I expected better, so if you decide to come here, stick to the beer. They also don't allow smoking on the rooftop, which I understand, but other rooftop bars in the area do let you smoke- just sayin! If I ever come back, I think I would try the cannery , it was the only bar in the building I didn't drink at so I may have better luck with a mixed drink there. The bar area of the rooftop and the lower bar were nearly empty, where the cannery had quite a few...
