La Ha has been my most favorite Mexican restaurant in the Triad, NC area for many years.
Not any more after visiting on Cinco de Mayo and again weeks afterward the holiday. The service has worsened due to servers either being forgetful or not checking on the table in a timely manner, and bringing cold food to the table.
On Cinco de Mayo, our fajitas came to the table warm but not sizzling whatsoever. We noticed the same thing occurred when visiting again in June. On our last June visit, our fajitas arrived to the table much later than normal, they too never sizzled and were cold. Ironically, a table across from us also ordered fajitas and they were sizzling with smoke coming from them, just as it should be. Puzzling and insulting to say the least for customers who have patronized this business for over 10 years.
When we communicated our concerns with late, cold fajitas arriving to the table, the Manager at the register who I've seen for years never listened, interrupted us, and made excuses. This is unacceptable and never a way to treat customers. We also communicated the same issues to another employee at the register and he looked confused. It was as if he did not know how to handle a customer complaint. He too has worked there for many years which is quite surprising.
At this point, we are no longer soliciting this business and have advised others we know to do the same based on experiences as of late and customer...
Read moreI was running errands on West Wendover and had a craving for huevos rancheros, so La Hacienda won my patronage by way of geographic proximity. I wasn’t expecting much from this place and yet I was somehow still disappointed.
La Hacienda is strictly paint-by-the-numbers Mexican. There are tacos, burritos, enchiladas, ACP – in short, nothing you haven’t seen before elsewhere. This dearth of creativity isn’t necessarily a problem if you’re in the mood for what they offer, and it turned out that I was. Unfortunately, the execution leaves quite a bit to be desired. My huevos rancheros were quite bland, and the accompanying tortillas had all clumped together. My companion’s steak quesadilla fared slightly better in the taste department but came with a miserly portion of guacamole.
Unlike other mediocre Mexican (here’s looking at you, Poblano’s), La Hacienda is, at the very least, a relative bargain. The total for both meals came to $14, and there was a respectable amount of food for the money. Add to that pleasant décor and efficient (if utterly joyless) service, and it’s almost enough to salvage the experience.
With both a Chipotle and a slightly better Tex-Mex restaurant (La Fiesta) in the immediate vicinity, La Hacienda doesn’t have a whole lot to offer. There are certainly worse options, but aside from pricing, it’s hard to...
Read moreI live nearby this restaurant, but had never been here, untill tonight. I looked online, and it said thru close at 9:30. I looked at their posted hours, and it said they close at 9:30. They had a sign on the door, about adjusting prices to "market prices" temporarily, during covid"(which I thought was odd), but went in anyway. There was a guy at the front door, who didn't greet me. He just looked at me. I was looking at him, waiting for a greeting or at least an acknowledgement, that I was there. All I got was a blank stare, for several seconds. Then, he shrugged his shoulders, and threw up his hands, like he was waiting on me to acknowledge him... he then whispered something, and I said "I'm sorry, I can't hear you". He then spoke louder, and asked how many were in my group, and took me to a table. He spoke negatively, in Spanish, to the waiter. Before I could even sit down, the waiter asked "Do you know what you want? Because we close in 10mins"... Well, since it was 8:40pm, I was confused. So I left. Very bad first impression! I won't be returning, and I'll make sure to share my story on social media. Mexican restaurants are everywhere in this town... Go to one that...
