Update: we have been solid customers for over a year and had a terrible run in today. Our friends arrived before we did and immediately said the waitress was rude. We defended and said she’s hard to warm up but is really nice.
Our food came and my husbands’ food was terrible - coleslaw tasted spoiled, the porkchop was thin and dry and the asparagus stringy and tough. He complained to this same waitress - her first response was we just made the slaw yesterday, asked him if he wanted something different, and about faced. (Look about 4 months ago someone said the coleslaw tasted spoiled…)
The rest of the interactions with her were quick and cut off - I had attempted twice to ask for a box. Annoyed the last time she walked away my husband raised his voice saying pardon me - ma’am pardon me. And she snapped - I’ll come see you once I get this man a water. By then we were all done. She was in fight mode and argued with my husband all the way to the front door. Unfortunately he left his keys at the table so I had to re-enter and Kip was standing at the door as though some sort of body guard was needed. I went looking for the keys and she continued arguing with now me - telling me how rude my husband was and that she didn’t cook the food. I told her she may have not cooked it - but she’s accountable for what she puts on tables. End of story. Then she told me I was rude.
You lost customers that have been supporting you from the beginning since you bought it from what was once Danny’s. Being so dismissive, argumentative, not taking responsibility, not trying to make things right and acting like we were going to start a bar brawl was just ridiculous.
You ought to be ashamed and I’m honestly sad because I liked the atmosphere there - and now we won’t be returning.
Love the food. Came here two days in a row - we are sold. Food made with such care - please don’t ever change a thing. You are a breath...
Read moreThis evening was my second trip here in under a week. I got my requests to-go this time.
I requested ; the grilled chicken with macaroni and cheese & collard greens. I also requested ; the meatloaf with black eyed peas and fried ocra.
The grilled chicken (my second one I've had there) is generously portioned to close to 9oz. Yes, it is char-grilled (those are real grille marks in the picture), not on the flat top. It seems to be house marinated in a Italian reminiscent blend. It was hot, juicy and full of flavors. The collard greens are juicy and full of a ham like flavor. The macaroni and cheese wasn't dry or runny like I've experienced from other restaurants. The black eyed peas needed a touch of salt for some flavor. The fried ocra was crisp and tender and cooked when ordered. The meatloaf was a hefty portion and seasoned very well. The bottom seemed charred a bit but hey that's added flavor in my opinion.
Will make efforts to make this establishment a go to for here on out.
The staff is welcoming, attentive and informative. They also have no problem admitting that if they don't know something then they'll go find out the answer.
They also have a very extensive liquor assortment and quite a few hard to find bottles on...
Read moreMy friends and I came into town to empty out a storage building so we had never been here before. Food looked great online so we tried it. First our appetizer we seriously thought it was Alpo dog food for the chili for the tot basket we got. It was disgusting. Once we got our food we were not at all surprised how terrible that was too. The chicken on the grilled chicken salad was undercooked. The bacon was chewy and fatty. The chicken tenders were burnt to a crisp and looked like turds legit. Mac and cheese was chalky. When we asked if anything could be done considering we barely ate any of the food, the bacon was taken off our ticket and a kids sweet tea. Collectively the bill was still $100! Asked for a manager and he literally came to the table, leaned on it, and said “well I’m not sure what you want me to do” we told them we ate about $20 worth of food here and that’s really all I’d be willing to pay for. He did remove items we didn’t eat, which we appreciate. But for anyone who’s made it this far and thinks about eating here, I’d suggest you have about 5 drinks before trying their food. It probably will taste...
