Monterrey Mexican Restaurant #29 — Restaurant in Greensboro

I used to love Monterrey's! My boyfriend and his family have went to this restaurant for years and he recently started bringing me here about 2 years ago. For the first few trips we got amazing customer service! they were funny and they were nice and they were fast and the food is always great ...up until today. Out of all of the Mexican restaurants having specials on Cinco de Mayo we decided to stick with Old Faithful Monterrey's and expected the usual friendly service. Instead, I ordered my usual jumbo corona Margarita that was more Corona than Margarita this time and had two flakes of salt on the rim. when I talked to the waiter about it, he told me that that's how it's made and he can't control what the beer does. We let it go and ask for more chips and salsa he brings us more chips and no more salsa. We asked to speak to the manager and several waiters brushed us off... now the waiter of our table approaches us and tries to resolve the problem by continuing to argue with me about my Margarita Corona be made correctly and says that he will get his manager. His manager comes to the table and says "what's the problem? the margarita was made correctly", x I can get you another beer, what do you want?"... I told him that we just didn't want to have any problems with just leaving because we weren't going to pay for anything that we didn't enjoy and didn't actually eat or drink and he said that's fine and started to walk away as we were still voicing concerns- continuing to argue with us about whether or not they even cared about losing us as loyal, faithful customers. We cannot believe the service from this restaurant today and therefore I give it one star for showing their true colors. We feel as though we've lost a close family friend and will not ever return to this...

My son and I stumbled upon this place. Wow. Great food. If you go so yourself a favor and get the stake and shrimp entree.... it's like $15 and was insanely good. The service to he honest was kind of weird. The server was great. The bus boy man was strange. The guy cleaning the tables wasn't wearing the blue shirt other workers were wearing and nice pants so at first I was wondering what he was doing. He had a bus bucket and was cleaning tables and just dumping the drinks into this bus tub and it was disgusting and sloshing around. That was my only turn off, but he was a nice guy. The people next to him that were just seated asked to be moved closer to a door. I think it was because the bus boy guy was super loud just chucking dishes into the tubs. It was weird but I'm still giving five stars because I'm truly thinking it was an anomaly and we loved the salsa they give with the chips. Great place. Service was good. Food was okay. I have eaten there before, and remember it being better, so might have just been a bad day. My wife said the same thing about her food. My overall experience was okay, but I was disappointed that they would not accept their online coupon. I was told it had to be printed out. Their website has the coupon, but do not see anything about having to print. I think this is the first place I have been to that would not honor their coupon by showing it to them on my iphone. The waitress was not willing to honor the coupon even after I showed that it does not say it requires it to be printed out. I am actually a business owner myself, and have online coupons, but do not require a customer to waste ink and paper.
