Cute little place with a lovely outdoor area. I had never been but the people I was with raved about it. When we walked in we were asked indoor or outdoor. When we said outdoor someone grumbled to just go pick any table. They didn’t look up at us or smile or anything. No warm welcome there. So we went outside and chose a table. It is a very clean area. The tables and chairs are decent for the type of place - they are very suitable. Our server was nice but very quiet and not personable at all. We did ask if an item could be made that was technically on the children’s menu and has been made for my friend three times prior when visiting. We were told no. That is understandable as it was not a sandwich in the regular menu. But most restaurants would accommodate this simple request even if they were to add an up charge that would be fine. It was the reason that we went in the first place. But again that was fine. All the food ordered was very good. I think the price range was great considering you could tell the food was freshly made. The biscuit with sausage gravy was delicious but it is a very rich gravy with a very buttery biscuit. I could not eat more than half of it. Which this is not a complaint because it is delicious it’s just a bit much and I knew I wouldn’t feel good if eating more. I do think more sausage would be nice. There were just a few little pieces on the side of the bowl. It def needs more sausage. I will go back and try other items for sure. Again the outdoor area is very peaceful especially considering the location. But hopefully the staff could be a bit...
Read moreHubby and I got to pay our first visit to this new addition to "Trader Joe's Plaza" in GBO. I love the concept of coffee, wine, beer and small plates with an ample patio. It is family friendly and has an attractive, inviting atmosphere. The wine list has good depth and features wines from US and other countries producing finer wines. Beer is offered in cans and they have several on tap . . .again, interesting offerings. The food menu is tight, but manages to offers a good variety that has something for most everyone. We were there for drinks and enjoyed greatly a wonderful caesar salad and the pulled pork sliders. Each were delicious! It would be hard to not order these two items again . . planning to try other things as well. It would be easy to "dock" Cozy Brew for service as they are new and business levels haven't settled in yet. Friday night they were on fire! The attitude of staff, management and patient customers made everything work out. They are trying to do everything right; and staff is working well under pressure. A for effort. I will probably join the wine club and for sure will be a...
Read moreI have long hoped for a cute cafe-type place in this area, and I was excited to try Cozy Brew today. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met and I was left severely disappointed. The decor was cute, but the arrangement of furniture made waiting in line very awkward as people were coming and going. The line was slow-moving, but part of that was also it being prime time for brunch on a Sunday. When it was finally my turn to order, I was a little shocked that it cost almost $25 for two drinks and two muffins, but I'm happy to support small business if the product is good. However, it was not. The banana nut muffins were so dry and flavorless that it was basically inedible. I was also shocked to look at the sticker and learn the muffin I had been served was marked four days prior. The rest of the muffin was discarded unfinished. My chai latte was mediocre but fine. I will probably not be returning to this...
