I have been ordering from them for years. YEARS!!! We do love the Tofu Tod, and their Chicken Satay. Also the peanut sauce. But if you order anything else, it's a hit and miss. Especially if you try to order a grade of spice. We have learned to try to say MILD - because they are spicy. But whatever we do, it always comes out the same if you order mild, medium, hot or Thai hot. This is a picture of us ordering "MILD" today. Do you see the amount of hot sauce at the bottom? They just don't seem to care. After all this time, I will try out all the other places in town. I do not recommend. It's inconsistent and never a nice experience going there. I've finally realized I've spent way too much money there for food we can't eat. Duh. PS: dang, the chicken satay is actually truly OK. I don't want to write a bad review, but it took orders upon orders to write this.

Not bad, really good fried rice dishes. We tried the garden wraps that were fresh: 4 pieces, 2 shrimp and 2 chicken. Tried 2 soups: Tom Gai was tasty but thin on substance and the tofu & mixed vegetables was steeped in beef broth but thin as well. Except for the fried rice the food was missing the richness in its flavor. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic and if your on this side of town it will do. 2 main dishes, 2 soups and 2 appetizers cost us $48 bucks.

This is really a no frills place. The food is good enough, about 3.5 stars. We ordered pad thai and pineapple fried rice. The pad thai had the right amount of sauce, but would have like more green onions, peanuts, & bean sprouts. It wasn't spicy at all, but i didn't think to ask. Pineapple fried rice was ok. The rice wasn't dry enough before making the dish. Flavor was light. The staff was nice and portions were big. All said and done, i would come again.

UPDATED 9/7/2024: Despite my better instincts, I started going here again recently due to its proximity to where I live (because no way, no how will Rockingham County ever have a Thai restaurant). But nothing has really changed. Went about three weeks ago and ordered Pad Thai. Sauce was all wrong, red in color, and the dish looked like a murder scene. Ordered Pad See Ew today "medium spicy" and there was no spice in it at all. The cook and cashier claimed otherwise and handed me a little cup of Thai chili paste, when all I had asked for was some crushed red pepper flakes. Pure fire...had I put it all over my food, it would have rendered it inedible. Actually doesn't matter, because I was sufficiently angry that I just chucked the mostly full plate into their metal discount store garbage can, and got by on the crispy spring rolls I also ordered. I believe they thought they were being cute, but in fact they just lost my business permanently. These noodle dishes ain't that hard to make. I will learn to do it myself, or I'll go to their competitors down the road at Westridge Square.

Original review (~5 years ago): Two out of six visits, food prepared incorrectly. First time, I let it go (take out). Second time, tonight and dining in, I insisted on a re-do. They refused, instead choosing to doctor up the existing plate of food. I requested and received a refund. They also charge for tap water, which is ridiculous, and charge extra at dinnertime despite the fact portions are not larger. The food, when prepared correctly, is good but is not worth the hassle. Visit Bangkok Cafe or Rearn...

Please read this in its entirety if you want a review based on fact not opinions. Look at reviews from just the last year. We all note the same basic experience.

The food is either fantastic or literally horrible. There is no in between. One time they provide soup and a side salad the next they give you nothing. This time they used wide rice noodles, pasty, sticking together, and overcooked. The last visit they used thin rice noodles and it was delicious.

The bill for 2 entrees, house salad, spring rolls, and dumplings was over $60.00. While we all know a dollar doesn’t go as far as it did in the past BUT $60 for 2 adults is not exactly cheap, if it were good I would not be writing this or would be writing an excellent review as 95% of the time I do. If I choose to review it’s my way of noting excellence.

The beef drunken noodles was really off, the beef had a taste like it’s been warmed over several times with a funny aftertaste. On the bright side there was hardly any beef in the entree. I unfortunately got shrimp drunken noodles. There were a whooping 9 medium shrimp- I’m being literal, only 9. Luckily I had shrimp in the freezer which I thawed, cooked, and added to it.

If the owner thinks they will go way further financially by choosing to use old and funky tasting beef of cutting the shrimp count by 2/3, have at it. I predict a “For lease” sign posted on the door soon. Sad but true.

No utensils, napkins, or anything else. Today is the last horrible experience for me. I vote with my dollars, they just lost my vote...

Will not be coming here ever again. On my previous visit got the Tuesday lunch special, which is pad Thai. I asked for veggie /tofu one. It was all tofu and no vegetables and bunch of noodles. Quantity was plenty and came with drink and salad for 7 bucks. But the idea of it not having any other vegetables or color in tofu pad Thai, doesn't seem right.

If I would have asked chicken would I have got only chicken and noodles and no other vegetables in it? I wonder.

I decided to go again for red curry lunch special. This time I asked for just vegetables no tofu. I got charged more and was not provided with drink or salad. I was told no substitutions. The lunch special is only good for chicken red curry. Isn't chicken red curry minus chicken pretty much vegetarian red curry? For asking for less food I got charged more money and no drink and salad. When argued, I was told no substitution is a policy, mind you it's not written anywhere. I didn't ask for premium meats. I just asked for vegetables which cost less than chicken. Oh well. Learned my lesson.

Older review

My reviews is based in one lunch visit. Tuesday special is pad Thai. I opted for tofu instead of chicken, under the impression that it would also have some veggies in it. I got pad Thai with lots of food ( a plus point) but mostly noodles and tofu. No variety of veggies. Gonna try again for a veggie item next time and update the reviews accordingly. I am sure chicken pad Thai would not be exclusively chicken...
