Burrito Mundo — Restaurant in Grosse Pointe Woods

Have had many great experiences here until the other day. Ordered 3 burritos and 2 were supposed to be with "Grilled chicken with aromatic spices", and the other burrito was supposed to be "Grilled Marinated Chicken". 1st 2 burritos were supposed to be the Mexican Shwarma, and the last was supposed to be the Cali Chicken burrito. Both of them had some very terrible, what I would call old and BAD shredded chicken. I have had the Mexican Shwarma many times from here and it was some good chunks of middle eastern flavored chicken. I called and was told that sometimes the "grilled chicken" turns into shredded chicken because "it is all the same chicken that we scoop out." I have experienced what is real grilled chicken in the Mexican Shwarma burrito, but this was nothing close and actually made me sick. What they gave me would be the equivalent of ordering a steak and giving a pile of ground beef. I am upset that I wasted $30 + on 3 burritos that could have been good if it was actually grilled chicken. I have a burrito that I can show that has shredded chicken that has NEVER seen the grill. Stop trying to short change your customers. That shredded chicken is for your Sante Fe tacos, NOT the burritos. On account of you choosing to take the stance that it is all the same, you are losing a customer and many more because I am going to get the word out about your poor performance and customer...

I’ve been getting takeout from this place almost since the beginning, when they first opened. Food & service was alway top notch for a long time. I started to notice a difference a couple years ago. Sometimes the food was good but the service was sketchy, sometimes it was the service that was good but the order was wrong. Lately though, (2020) it has been bad on both sides, and last night is going to be my final visit. Ordered online and was given a pickup time. I arrived at the time they designated and called. They told me it would be about another ten minutes, I waited for twenty before I called again, and was told it would be out “soon”. About fifteen minutes later they brought it out. I casually asked what the hold up was and I got a blank stare and the response “sorry”. I explained how long I had been waiting and again asked if they kept forgetting to make my order, and again the only explanation was, “I don’t know, I’m sorry”. Whatever, bad service...but when I got home and started to eat, I think they might have substituted the steak for a chunk of rubber, then dipped the whole thing in oil. Love that they have vegan options. I am obsessed with their impossible burrito. Usually get the chips and guacamole with it whenever we order from here.

They also give locals a discount when you order through their app. With that being said, when you order through their app, it ends up using DoorDash if you choose delivery vs pickup. Our DoorDash driver delivered us the complete wrong order, then hung up on me when i called them after saying they didn’t speak any English. Ignored my calls and texts after that.

I called burrito Mundo to see if maybe our order was still there for me to go and pick up but it wasn’t, the delivery driver grabbed 2 orders and mixed them up. I told them no problem since it was out of their hands at that point then contacted DoorDash.

Placed the same order from burrito Mundo a few minutes later because we were hungry and really wanted our weekly impossible burrito fix 😂 The people working must of recognized it was us placing the order again and wrote cute notes on our food. They also threw in 2 free cookies 🍪

Customer service can 100% make or break you in my opinion. I will happily support any business that goes out of their way for their customers, especially the ones who also offer tasty...
