Disgusting! Place is filthy, staff were rude. Went in around 5pm last night to pick up a Doordash, I've been to other locations without a problem, first time at this one. Walk in, rap music blasting through the restaurant. Nobody was at the front counter, all standing in the back listening to one employee telling a loud and expletive filled story. While I'm standing there I take a look around and it was just gross. Grime and dirt caked to the floors, to the sides of the counters, everywhere. Counters were cluttered with stuff falling all over. What I could see of the back was even worse to the point I pulled out my phone and started snapping pictures. Well apparently that finally caught one employee"s attention because she she rudely asked what do I want? I smile, show her my Dash app and say the name of the order I'm picking up. She says something under her breath to another girl, rolls her eyes and goes back to the story. The other girl comes out, shoves the order in my hand without a word and walks away. So I get in my car and it STINKS so badly that I had to the tie the bag closed. I was almost to the point of gagging. Anybody who works in restaurants, especially around fryers, knows this smell! Really old, over-used, burnt fryer oil and it was coming from this poor lady's food! I drop off the order and warn the lady that it smells awful and if she has any issues she may want to call corporate. She thanks me at the door and I get a message in my Dash app almost immediately after that she'd had to throw ithe whole thing away. I guarantee you if the health inspector walked in there today, they'd be shut down! I certainly won't be...

I come to this location quite often. Although I find the food to be a bit expensive, I love how the food is prepared and prefer it over fast food. The chicken, cod and Shack potatoes are delicious. The staff is usually very friendly. The last couple of weeks I attempted to place an order over the phone 30 minutes prior to their published (internet and on their door) closing time and was told they were already closed. The phone was answered with someone immediately blurting that out. When I questioned they were open until 10, they just repeated they were closed. I felt that was very rude especially since they didn’t offer an explanation.

Shortly after my original post, the owner reached out to me directly, advised that she looked into and verified my complaint and apologized. Read moreMy Grosse Pointe Woods Chicken Shack experience was absolutely terrible. First, the lobby was dirty. This actually gave me hope the food would be tasty. Ahhh.......it suched. Second, the veterans discount was only posted at the main entrance (not at the counter where you order) as was so inconspicuous that I never saw it until I had been waiting for 20 minutes for a two piece snack that cost over $14.00. The young lady who took my order was short and conveyed that I might somehow be interrupting what ever she was doing on her phone. Finally, the prices i was charged were different (higher) than the prices listed on their menu. I do believe this might be simply illegal. Will i recommend the Chicken Shack? Not to my worst enemy. Will i buy from them again? Only after i buy and fix the recipes and the customer service problems. They get 2 stars because i can't believe the Soebecks have any clue of how terrible their Grosse Pointe Woods store...
