Great for “takeout” coffee and lattes, but the “dine-in” experience really differentiates from the popular “premium coffee” chains.

The first time I visited, it was just a quick stop to grab a latte and see what this new coffee shop that I kept driving by was all about. The service and latte were both superb, but while my latte was being prepared I observed a few people enjoying the variety of different seating options ranging from your typical small table with a few chairs, large plush armchairs flanking a coffee table, bar-style seating that allows you to look out the window, and even a few booths. The ornate personal coffee pots that a few of the other customers were enjoying piqued my interest, prompting me to ask the barista preparing my latte what they were. He kindly explained how this more traditional style of coffee was their specialty (rather than the wide selection of very appealing flavors of lattes) and recommended I give it a try on my next visit.

I came back the next week with the intention sampling the mufawaar while working on my laptop. I enjoyed watching the preparation process and the aromas results by from the spices added to the coffee. I loved the presentation of the coffee in the beautiful pot with a small cup, encouraging you to slowly sip and enjoy your personal pot of expertly crafted Yemeni coffee. The coffee was some of the best I’ve ever had, which even as a “takeout” (that I’ve come back for several times ) still maintains the magical flavors of the dine-in experience - just be careful when you’re on the last few sips of your to-go cup as there is some sediment that settles in your...

My 1st and last time at this location. I patiently waited for the Caucasian woman to place her order, just like myself I believe it was her first visit as well, so she asked a lot of questions about the menu, which was also helpful to me as I had some of the same questions, too. As the gentleman at the register explained ingredients etc, another gentleman (African American descent) came from the back and joined the conversation between the cashier and the young Caucasian woman, he pleasantly assisted with the answers for questions being asked. Finally the lady placed her order, paid her tab and sat down. Now here’s where it gets interesting! The cashier stepped away from his post for whatever reason, but as I stood there waiting I was facing the African American employee who simply looked past me as if I didn’t deserve the same level of care or service, that he had just given the other young lady before me. I stood there he never acknowledged me, so the cashier returned and asked me what I would like to order. I quickly placed my order, paid and stepped aside. So what confirmed my suspicions of this reverse discrimination, was when a Caucasian gentleman walked in, the African American employee immediately greeted him and took his order with a smile, but I had to wait for the cashier to return to his post, before my order was ever taken or processed. See I am a African American woman and I was subtly disregarded and discriminated against by my own racial group.
