Edit: After eating here again, I notice they have an issue with consistency. I ordered the Greek Style Skirt Steak again. Rather than the thick, well-seasoned, juicy churrasco I got last time, this one was thinner than a two-day-old McDonald's beef patty. And tasted nearly as bland. The potatoes were undercooked and under-seasoned and only lukewarm. I don't really care about presentation, but that was less professional than the first visit. You can see the difference in the two attached photos. If I had been served this food last time, I would not have returned. Opa! needs to improve their consistency. First impressions are huge for a restaurant. Tonight would not have gained them repeat customers.
My wife's gyro was about the same as her first visit. We'll eat here again. But if the food is as "meh" as it was tonight, it'll be the last time we go there. And that's very disappointing to me considering how good it was the first time.
The service was still good.
Below is my review from the first visit:
Opa! is at the top of the list of my dining experiences since I moved to Puerto Rico. The food is fantastic Greek with a hint of Boricua. My churrasco was perfectly seasoned and perfectly proportioned. My wife raved about her gyro. It's the best restaurant meal we've had in PR in 3 years.
The staff was super friendly. They have some outdoor seating. The paid parking is cheap. And I parked just 50 feet from the restaurant.
The food cost is comparable to any other restaurant. You can dine affordably at Opa. But our drinks doubled the cost of our meal. So pay attention to that if you're...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently dined at OPA and had an overall enjoyable experience. The food was excellentāauthentic Greek flavors that were both fresh and well-prepared. The wine was also good, with a decent selection on their wine list, which features around 20 bottles. They offer three different pricing options: glass, bottle, and to-go. However, there are only about six bottles available by the glass, priced at $9 each.
Hereās where things got a bit frustrating. The server recommended a bottle that wasnāt listed among the wines available by the glass, which I appreciated as a suggestion. However, we ended up ordering five glasses of it, not realizing that each glass was $15. While I understand the markup for wine by the glass, it felt misleading not to mention the higher price upfront, especially when recommending something outside of the listed options by glass. In hindsight, I should have just ordered the bottle. If they truly valued my business, offering the bottle price after the first couple of glasses would have shown flexibility and ensured Iād return as a customer.
Overall, it was a good dining experience, but I would have appreciated more transparency regarding the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was excited to visit this restaurant because of the good reviews and the variety of dishes, Iām sad to say I was disappointed by the service and the food. We visited Opa Greek on quiet Tuesday evening and had to wait a couple of minutes to get seated. The servers were not attentive, we had to remind them to bring us some of the drinks we ordered. The food took long to arrive despite the fact that there werenāt too many patrons. However, what prompted me to do this review was the bland, sad food. We had to add ketchup to the gyro because it didnāt have much flavor, although that couldāve been because there was barely any chicken in it too. Another dish that was ordered was the salmon with sweet potato purĆ©e . For the amount of āpurĆ©eā Iād say the price was ridiculously expensive, and unfortunately the dish lacked flavor. Iād like to note too that you must pay for parking at the mini mall, that adds to the reasons why I will never come...
