Pan Castiel is a solid choice for breakfast, lunch, and coffee in Guaynabo. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the option to order online for pickup makes it especially convenient for lazy weekends with the family. Their breads are excellent—I’m a big fan of the quesito, and my daughter loves their sugar doughnuts. We’ve also enjoyed their ham and cheese sandwiches and empanadillas, all of which were well-made and tasty.
The café itself is clean and comfortable, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be a little tricky since spaces are limited, but there’s usually enough turnover to find a spot without too much trouble.
Coffee is good, though very much in the standard Puerto Rican style. When I asked for an iced coffee, they accommodated but seemed surprised by the request. Not a dealbreaker, but a little more flexibility in coffee options would be a plus.
Overall, this is a great spot for fresh bread, solid meals, and a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely...
Read moreWe just had lunch at Pan Castilel, a Puerto Rican restaurant/coffee, and had a few very pleasant surprises. My husband ordered Sandwich Cubano and a cup of Cafe Latte; I ordered Sopa De Pollo (Chicken soup). Since they run out of rice that normally comes with the soup, they gave me a Pan Auga (Puerto Rican specialty) bread instead, and that crusty savory bread was out this worldly tasty! WOW! There was lots of meat in the chicken soup and it’s full of flavor, the large size soup with the Pan Auga bread together is enough for a meal and only cost me $4.00. My husband’s Cunano Sandwich was huge, it’s more than enough for two of us but only cost $9.95! They have five different level of “darkness” for coffee latte, we wanted the darkest without sugar, and it was one of the best coffee latte I have ever had, with no sugar! Consider the quality, quantity and cost of the meal, this place was really one of the best with great taste and best value....

Well trained and amicable staff tend to customers quickly, with a good system to deliver food to the tables. DO NOT visit if you're looking for a reasonably priced menu, that's why I'm giving it three stars. Ordered the ham, cheese and egg sandwich, a soda and a quesito (pastry) and still can't get over how they charge $1.65 for a 12 fl oz can of coke that you can get anywhere else for a dollar. Gotta survive and make a profit I know, but let's not be abusive folks. Same with the quesito ($2.15) Well presented sandwich, okay sized and actually hot which was good. Overall okay experience, once again, not for those on a budget, a big family or both (unless you...
