Having heard so much about this place I finally got to go try it tonight. Drinks ordered specifically one unsweet tea and one sweet tea and I almost had to spit it out it was so sweet. I mentioned it to the server who looked at me and said you're kidding me? Who made it? Bad start. The menus were disgusting with all kinds of stuff stuck to it, a lemon seed on one page, some other mysterious chunk of food on another part. I pointed it out to the server who should have said let me get a new menu and I'll clean this one or offered to clean it, but no, I had to try to work around the disgusting menu. Cleanliness and first impression clearly is not a priority here and I probably should have left then.
Ordered first was the appetizers one, the Combination with Southwest egg rolls, Sully's Sacks and fried cheese for $13.99 and the Bang Bang Shrimp for $12.99. The apps were good but nothing to write home about. Pretty routine when it comes to comparing to other restaurants. The Combination was most definitely from the frozen aisle and deep fried. The shrimp was just okay. They didn't taste like fresh Gulf shrimp and despite claiming to be jumbo, they weren't. Neither were they hand battered it was more like panko and a boat load of pepper in the breading even before you added the bang bang sauce.
On to our meal, we asked about the Mahi. So sorry we're out of that tonight but we have a special Red Snapper with Gulf Shrimp and asparagus. For a restaurant with very few fish options, there really was no other fish choice except more Shrimp so my friend got the special for $37.99, a little pricey for a small piece of local catch that's plentiful here. She liked it though so it was worth it.
For me I hadn't had steak in a long while so I upgraded and got the "Prime" Ribeye 16 oz steak for a whopping $52.99! $10 more than a USDA cut. I only eat well done and usually ribeye can be safely cooked well without being too gristly. I was impressed it was cooked perfectly well done. I've got to say I was super disappointed so many restaurants now order and serve ribeye without that extra piece of meat around the edge, the piece I call the tail. Yes it's the fattiest and most tender part of a ribeye and it is missed by customers. Overall the meat was good but there was beyond too much gristle around most of the steak edges. For your protection, I won't share that picture but I'm glad I brought it home as a dog treat. For my sides I ordered salad and it was literally the best part of my meal. I went through the normal litany of questions I ask when out, are the fries fresh or frozen? Frozen. I finally saw green beans and ordered them, never thinking to ask anything about them. Always remember the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask. When my meal arrived you can imagine how upset I was to see those canned, unseasoned, flavorless cut green beans I grew up on, in a bowl on my plate along with some weird bread that had no flavor whatsoever, and that you could use to break a window (I'm not kidding, I wish I were). For as much as we were paying they should have gone and picked them beans out of a field for us after all we have some of the best fresh produce year round here (kidding but am I?). So yes I told the server to take them back and put them back in the trash where they belonged.
A normal reaction for the restaurant would be to ask if you'd like something else but that didn't happen. The server communicating to us that she told the Manager about the dissatisfactions with our visit. We made it completely clear it wasn't on our waitress or the chef but do you think whoever the fictitious manager could take one second out of her empty restaurants tasks to come and at least apologize? No, they didn't, and I feel the same about ever going back there. EVER. If I decide to ever go back I'll be ordering a burger or...

One thing I love about Mississippi as a Chicago transplant, when you order a steak, they actually cook it to the temperature you tell them. Now for the average person that's not a problem, but for someone like me, back in Chicago they get a little squeamish, since I like my steak under-cooked. A step or two below rare.
I went here with my friends, the waiter was great, the drinks were nice, and this being a fancier establishment, meant proper Tequila, decent top shelf stuff. And if I remember the price correctly the Double jack and coke tall was more expensive than a top shelf margarita.
My friends all liked their food. They cooked my steak as little as they legally and comfortably felt like, and it was perfect, the STEAK was. Now, for next time, I'll remind them not to put seasoning on it, or WAY LESS. Especially when you can tell it's the NEW YORK STEAK seasoning mix from McCormick. It's a great mix. THOUGH, when you drizzle it on your steak. They coated the sides in it. I was able to scrape some of it off, a good chunk I should say, and it tasted SO MUCH better, that was really a great steak worth the $65. THOUGH what was weird was how disgusting the cornbread and gravy one the potatoes were. I can't remember exactly what was wrong with the cornbread but it was DISGUSTING, same with the gravy that tasted like dirty water. The potatoes were great, they used the tiny gold potatoes. Russets? Not Russets, maybe Yukon Golds. Anyways, the potatoes without the gravy great. Weirdly stuff without "flavoring" seems to be way better here. I think my friends were way happier than I was with my main course.
With that said, since I was feeling hungry I also ordered the Nachos for the table, and WOW... I thought Nachos were whatever, hard to screw up and nothing to perfect. BUT MAN, they were on a whole new level, literally in my super limited experience with nachos, the BEST I've ever had. HOLY COW, they were great. Their home made chips, meh, definitely above average, but EVER SO SLIGHTLY on the sweet side. Supposedly the hamburger they use is the scrapped cuts of steak grounded into hamburger meat, and whatever, makes me want to try their hamburgers next time. SINCE that meat on those nachos was amazing.
IN the end, wait staff great, decently quick, gravy bad, cornbread bad, Steak over seasoned but amazing cut and "under cooked" to perfection. BUT THAT BILL, holy cow. EASILY the second most expensive meal I've paid for. For the three of us it came out to 250. Ruth Chris in the Hard Rock was $300. YIKES, Hence why it only got 3.5 stars. We'll try again and order the hamburgers based off the meat...
Read moreMy husband and I, along with different groups of our friends, have visited Sully's three times now and ordered it on DoorDash once (at the time of writing). I can say with complete confidence that this is the best food we have ever eaten. Whether in the restaurant or delivered, the food was fresh, hot, and delicious! It's always exactly as ordered and tastes amazing. We have collectively tried all of the appetizers — you'll wanna get down on that Bang Bang Shrimp, for sure! ALL of the appetizers are outstanding though.
Our favorite meal at Sully's is the Shrimp & Grits. It's HANDS DOWN the best meal I've ever tasted. The creamy sauce and the giant shrimp pair so well with the Parmesan-seasoned grit cakes. I mean, it's so good you'll wanna slap ya momma for never making this dish like Sully's!
Not only that, but the chicken fettuccine is so ON POINT. Get a side of broccoli and have them stir it into your meal. It'll put every other chicken fettuccine you've ever eaten to SHAME. I also gotta call out the massive, stuffed-full of goodness chicken quesadillas — they are divine.
Oh, and the steaks? PHENOMENAL! I've been eating steak my whole life, but that 20oz CAB Ribeye made it feel like the first time I've ever tasted meat. Perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly to temp, the tender, juicy meat just melts in your mouth. I know that's cliché, but order it and you'll see.
Last, but certainly not least, the cheesecake here is TO DIE FOR. Velvety smooth and so many flavors to choose from — you can't go wrong! They even have special seasonal flavors.
If you're looking to become a regular somewhere that has outstanding food, friendly and attentive staff, and a happy, laid back atmosphere, this is your new spot. They have live music most nights, plenty of seating, and a fully stocked bar! The patio is great for large parties and the restaurant is always clean and inviting.
Speaking of staff, ask for Hanna. She is an absolute hoot! Friendly, attentive, outgoing, remembers your face, never forgets your order, and serves with a smile. We always ask for her now after she served my husband and I on Valentine's Day! Even when she had been there from opening time and it was nearly closing, she greeted us with an upbeat attitude and a friendly smile. She truly is a gem! If you're reading this Owners/Managers, she deserves a bonus or a raise (or both). Seriously, even if the food wasn't as exceptional as it is, we'd still come back to see Hanna!
When Sully's claims legendary food and drinks, they mean it!
See ya...
