Waffle House — Restaurant in Gulfport

I hate how this shows my name because I’m usually not a negative Karen but last night at this location Waffle House in Gulfport MS beside Newk’s , the service was uncalled for. Very unprofessional and i don’t know if I want to even use that word. We got there and no one even greeted us when we walked in. We sat down and waited for 30 MINS just to see if someone would come to us. No one came and there were other tables that had plates and stuff still on the table when we arrived and after we left. A waitress even looked at me and I know she knew we haven’t been waited on due to the fact we haven’t had drinks or menus on our table. Same waitress walking back and forth like she has nothing to do. We even called the other party that was meeting us there not to come because they haven’t seen us and we been here 15 mins now, also noticed , either the cook was helping the one waitress or vice Vera couldn’t tell. If you know you are under staffed at least let people know before they sit for no longer than 10 mins without being acknowledged. Very upset with them and this is usually our go to Waffle House. We only waited for 30 mins just to see how long it would take after the 15 mins and even then no one came to us and the place wasn’t even packed if you ask my opinion. Cheryl was our server and she was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. She was so rude and yelled at my friends and I when we came in countless times. I forgot that I was paying for three meals and now two and she had already written on one of the sheets. When I told her, she ripped it out and very aggressively walked away to rewrite it. When we got our drinks, I got water without ice and I saw stuff floating in it. I’m not accusing her of putting anything in my food but regardless that’s disgusting.

I wasn’t going to tip but I, myself, am a waitress and I tip regardless. I tipped her 3$ even though she was awful. I have never had such an awful experience here. Usually the staff is very kind and patient but Cheryl was awful and I don’t know if me or my friends will...

I forgot our waitresses name. But she was phenomenal. I have 2 kids and I ordered them the kids waffle and bacon/sausage and 1 with chocolate chips. And she asked me if I wanted her to cut them. I know that's minor, but I was so shocked. she was great, saw we needed something and brought it to us without us having to ask. She would go "you need more coffee?" Or "can I bring the boys more juice?" She was amazing. She was always there if we needed something and always there to help. Cannot rate a restaurant without talking about the wait staff.
