I stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites Gulfport I-10 last weekend with my family while visiting the area for a family reunion. My mother and law and I booked the room together because of my Hilton Honors account and Triple A rewards. We waited to the last minute (one to two weeks before) to book the room and were unable to find a Homewood Suites or Residence Inn that could accommodate 5 adults and a child. I remembered that Hampton Inn has suites that include two queen beds and one sofa bed that comfortably sleep 5-6 people. After reviewing the Hilton website, I went right to Yelp and found that this hotel had consistent 4- and 5-star ratings. For the price and it being the only hotel with availability that could keep us all together, we decided to go for it. I called the hotel the day before to ask questions because I knew we were driving separately, and the reservation was under me but linked to my mother and law's form of payment, since we were splitting the cost. Emani answered the phone and politely answered my questions and even made notes in my account with my special requests and to indicate that we would have a late check - in with two arrivals. The next night when we arrived first everything ran smoothly. I drove from the Metro-Atlanta area with my husband and son. My mother in law drove separately from Henry County, GA with my brother and law and his girlfriend. When we arrived, Melissa went above and beyond to be friendly and make us feel at home. Our room looked exactly like the picture on the website and they provided us with extra pillows and a blanket, just like the special instruction requested. The room was clean and spacious. The amenities were great. My husband and mother and law used the 24-hour gym. My son and I used the indoor pool and had a blast. The breakfast was complementary, and it was okay, but the staff made it a 5-star experience. One of the employees went to the back to get Fruit loops for my preschooler because she overheard me say that he did not eat the options that were put out. My favorite part of the breakfast was the waffle. The location is walking distance to Buffalo Wild Wings and a bar. You could walk from the room if need be. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby that you can try as well (Waffle House, Raising Canes, Chillis, Shrimp Basket, Whataburger etc.) The location is close to gas stations and about 1 mile away from Walmart. Also, the Hampton Inn and Suites has a partnership with Island View Casino and resort, where you can get picked up via a shuttle and rewarded a food and play credit (first time users only). We did not take advantage of this offer, but ended up going there on our own. Overall, this was a great trip. The staff made our experience so wonderful. I would definitely recommend Hampton Inn & Suites...
Read moreNormally, I wouldn’t leave a bad review. But after the staff commented on me when they thought I couldn’t hear them. I will say my peace. I wouldn’t stay here again even in a pinch. It’s not up to the Hilton standard when it comes to staffing. I am a Diamond member who stays all over the world with this brand. I was first sent to a dirty room to burst in on the cleaning lady. They claimed it was a system error that prevented them from seeing the room was still dirty. If the cleaning lady wouldn’t have been in the room. I guess I would’ve been in a dirty room. I went back downstairs and Lisa tried to rectify the situation with an upgrade (which I appreciated). I came back out the room and asked Lisa right away for a late checkout since I had a work meeting.. She agreed to 12pm the next day. I was then texted as they always do by the staff to make sure everything was okay. I again asked for confirmation of my late check out. The front desk staff Keyunna (who had originally sent me to the dirty room) confirmed AGAIN that I was all set for 12pm. The next morning comes and I have a knock from housekeeping promptly at 11am because they have no record of my late check out. I did all of that confirming so that I would not be interrupted during my meeting. Just to be interrupted during my meeting. I then called the front desk and was informed by the same staff Keyunna that there was no note for my late checkout. Despite her confirmation via text message that I was good the day before. I proceeded to ask to speak to the manager. Once I spoke to her, she made apologies and made it seem like she would speak to her staff about all of these miscommunications. She even went as far as to agree with me that there needed to be better communication. Despite her saying that they essentially bent over backwards to accommodate my “hours in advance check-in”. I promptly corrected her that I showed up after 2:40pm which caused her to backtrack and recheck. More miscommunication! I agreed again to a 12pm checkout. So imagine my surprise at 12:30pm when I am sitting in the business center (they didn’t know I was there despite me telling the manager during our call) completing my meeting. I hear them referencing my room and Keyunna saying she’s called my room multiple times. A voice responded to her (practically yelling down the hall) saying “well she’s already pissed off so we will give her a few more minutes”. As if I wasn’t validated in my feelings of this place of chaos and confusion. I promptly spoke up to Keyunna as she was walking by and said I was checked out at 12pm and out of the room. Unlike your staff here at the Hampton, I know how to do what I say I’m going to do and on time! How...
