Went on a Sunday and got there at 1:30pm. Sundays open at 1pm. Me and my bf like to go to places as soon as they open because we prefer entering an empty place vs entering a crowded place lol so that's what we got! Service was great, got seated fast and our waitress was nice and prompt too. We were there for the oysters (tasted fresh, so yummy) but also tried their other stuff on the menu. (Also, they DONT do buck a shuck on Wednesdays anymore sadly. They don't do it anymore at all, we asked the waitress and that's what she told us) Got the oyster sampler to start off with that gave you 6 oysters in total. 3 different types of oysters (2x of each) which was perfect for me and my bf. We ordered the tuna tartar (very fresh) and it was great to taste. And then finally got our main dishes. My bf got the Kennett square burger that the waitress recommended when he asked and I took a bite of it too and it did not disappoint!!!!! It was juicy and had so much flavor!! I on the other hand got the chilean sea bass (I got it grilled because I don't like my fish blackened) and added some other stuff to it(you have to pay for these add ons) like shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, and I think it was crab meat on top and it all literally melted in my mouth. I kind of just wished I didn't have to pay extra for putting the mushrooms and shrimp on top when that price should honestly include them. Like it should've been a dish with those stuff already included instead of having it as an add on. But I guess it's a customer based preference. Somebody who doesn't like mushrooms probably wouldn't have ordered it if that was the only option. But that's just my opinion! Any ways, still love the place, the music and the service and the food so far. First impression was great, definitely will be returning! I don't know how this place is when it starts to get busy but if we do end up going on a busy day or night, I'll let...
Read moreFood was excellent as always. But this review is not about the cuisine, but rather, the management/ownership.
I was sitting in the lobby waiting to be seated and a man came in without a mask. The hostess, who was no older than 20, politely asked him to put a mask on. He refused and after several more requests, moved closer to her and attempted to take off her mask, telling her that he spends a lot of money there, as if this gave him some sort of passage to move into her personal space and touch her.
A friend gave him a mask and they were moved to a table which happened to be right near ours. He proceeded to tell the other hostess that she was beautiful and took her hand and kissed it. She was mortified and obviously upset.
She hurried away and not soon thereafter, the manager came to the table and said that he did not allow his employees to be treated this way and asked the guy to leave. The guy was reluctant but finally got up and cursed the manager/owner the whole way out, again, stating how much money he spends there.
Kudos to the manager (I believe his name is George) and the way he handled this situation. He stood up for his staff and showed them that any form of disrespect would not be tolerated, no matter how much someone spends at his establishment. I have a teenage daughter and would hope her boss would stand up for her in the same way and not allow any form of disrespect in her place of employment.
Giumarello's may have lost a high paying customer but they certainly gained a lot of respect in my eyes and the eyes of anyone else who was there...
Read moreWe recently discovered this restaurant last week, and had such a great experience that we decided to come back this week. Our server last week, Griffen, was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The service at our reservation this week was different. She didn’t introduce herself, and asked us if we wanted to order 1 minute after we sat down. When we ordered she didn’t even take our menus away from us so we had to leave them piled on the table. Someone in our group had an issue with her meal and she seemed confused and annoyed when they brought it up to her. Overall, the service was just very different this week. I’m generally not a picky person, but it really affected the whole dining experience. Maybe she was having a bad day. As for the food, we really loved the complimentary bread, crab stack app, eggplant florentine app, and wild mushroom ravioli. I’m still dreaming about the taste of those raviolis, they were fabulous. Two people in my group each ordered the miso glazed sea bass. The one person with me couldn’t eat the dish because she said random bites were so incredibly salty, to the point where she was nauseated from it. And other bites had zero seasoning. The other person who ordered the same dish felt the same way but was so hungry they decided to keep it. Like I said, everything was fabulous last week, so this week won’t deter us from coming back. We just won’t order that miso glazed sea bass and hopefully the...
