Having just concluded a belated luncheon at Crab Daddy's, I am compelled to furnish an honest evaluation, particularly as a native of New Orleans. Commencing with the positive aspects, brevity is warranted. The personnel exhibited commendable courtesy, and the restroom facilities within the establishment were impeccably maintained. Furthermore, the beer service met the standard of being refreshingly cold. However, transitioning to the culinary facets, a comprehensive spectrum of dishes was sampled within our party, providing a nuanced basis for assessment. Regrettably, the fried fish offerings were devoid of discernible flavor, exhibiting a lamentable plainness that failed to evoke the anticipated gustatory delight. Concurrently, the gumbo dish presented undercooked vegetables and potatoes, along with an incongruous addition of basil— a departure from the quintessential Cajun profile. A fellow diner in our party found it unsatisfactory, leading to an incomplete consumption due to its deviation from authentic gumbo standards. Notably, the "Cajun" fries failed to align with the expected Cajun essence, resembling ordinary fries adorned with what appeared to be a mere sprinkling of pepper. A cautious recommendation is extended against ordering the boiled seafood, as our observations from adjacent tables revealed a conspicuous disparity from the genuine representation of such delicacies. In summary, the culinary offerings at Crab Daddy's conspicuously lack an authentic Cajun or New Orleans essence. Prospective patrons are advised to moderate their expectations should they opt to partake in a dining experience here. I would additionally recommend a conscientious review of menu and ingredient selection, perhaps consulting authoritative sources such as YouTube, to effectuate necessary...
Read moreWait staff doesn't know anything. Menu pricing is weird and not straightforward. Was told dungeness crab was 26.95 market price per pound so I said OK one order of crab they said that's 1 crab at 1.7lbs I was like ok so that's like 45 bucks then she said yes, well it was actually 35.00 lb come my bill and so it came out to be 60 bucks. You could of told me 60 bucks for the crab. For one lousy crab. Waitress also did not know anything about the menu, flavors etc. Never checked back in on us. No liquor license yet, couldn't even get a beer to drown my dissapointment. Shrimp is 20 bucks a pound. What they don't tell you is its head on shrimp and not deviened, I'm talking like low quality shrimp. Shrimp was also undercooked (HOW WAS THIS POSSIBLE IT TAKE 3 MINUTES TO BOIL SHRIMP) and the potatoes were raw in the middle. The decor made me feel like I was inside the Krusty Krab, real low quality asside from one nice model ship. NOT...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about Crab Daddy. I eagerly awaited their opening, and got to go to their soft opening where the experience was amazing. Everything tasted fresh, exploding with flavors I had been missing on Guam.
Fast forward a while and each time I've gone I've noticed an issue with consistency. Different amounts of sauce is common so I normally pay the 3 dollars for an extra bowl of it. Crab leg sizes vary with the king crab. But the shrimp and crayfish have gotten worse over time, to the point where today I ate 2 they put the rest aside. They were mushy and the shells stuck to the flesh. Undercooked or very old, I was worried about eating any more. However the rest of the combo was great.
I would give it 3 stars, but their ability to create a nice outdoor dining experience during these COVID times and the existence of those delicious sausages make it hard to stay away.
In conclusion, good not great, used...
