My family of 5(4 adults & 1 teen) showed up for dinner at this establishment. Now, let me say I have wanted to eat here my entire life, because I grew up in this area. I FINALLY can afford it and am extremely disappointed. 1st the waitress forgot 2 adult main courses(snow crab 🦀 bushels) all she brought were sides and forgot the sauces we asked for. 2nd we then had to wait another about 10 mins to receive the 2 orders of snow crab 🦀 making our sides cold by that point. 3rd Once we began eating we quickly realized that everything was over cooked. The crab bushels & shrimp & sides, the highly priced lobster meal and sides, even my daughter's stuffed flounder with hush puppies were over cooked. 4th if we did ask the waitress for something such as a dipping sauce or utensil needed for what we were eating, she made it seem like an inconvenience to her. As we sat eating of course we realized the waitress asking every single other table after the main course if they would like dessert. Every other table there was 2 or 3 people per table. 5th She did NOT ask us! And we did want dessert. 6th She promptly brought our check before we were done eating our main courses. 7th Another bigger group came in near the end of our dining experience and the waitress was all happy, peppy and willing and wanting to serve them, unlike my family. Seemed like she knew them but that should not have made a difference. We were very nice and cooperative the whole time with her. Even the cook came out to ask them how their food was. Lastly, once we began standing up and putting our coats on , the waitress comes by and asks if we would want anything else, AFTER we had already paid the $240 check. All I can say positive, was the authentic atmosphere and interesting pictures on the wall, cleanliness of the establishment and that the waitress refilled our drinks promptly. I am still upset over this experience since I have always heard nothing but positive feedback about this place. And 100% honesty, we gave a low tip to the waitress, even though my entire family felt she should not have gotten one. I pushed to leave her something for her prompt drink refill service. I hate leaving any type of negative review but I could not...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked in the door the older lady in carry out snaps with “do you have a reservation?” Didn’t bother to take a name and informs us that it’s at least 30-40 min wait. Okay great we will wait really wanted crabs for our anniversary. No one ever stated they were out of any particular size. We finally were sat at an incredibly small table ordered drinks and appetizers, it wasn’t until our fabulous waitress asked us if we were having crabs. My husband asked and she stated then they only had smalls, she did however go back and ask what else was available she managed to secure a dozen mediums. The first crab I picked up was absolutely not a medium but one that had just shed its shell and had no meat it was hollow and just barley qualified as a medium, and apparently over seasoning the whole dozen with old bay and pepper made them absolutely miserable to eat. Once the waitress put our appetizer order in and the crabs it all came out at one time so small table dozen oysters 1lb of jumbo shrimp, drinks, crab pretzel and now a dozen crabs all at a small table talking about being cramped
What really has me seeing red is the fact that we were told 30-40 min and when we finally entered the dining area that attached photo is how the restaurant looked all these empty tables now as fast as things were coming out of the kitchen we could have been sat, fed and paid before the people who did finally show up We have always enjoyed chics but sadly we Will be looking for elsewhere to go due to the non existent management making sure customers are taken care of. Also side note no where on their web site or facebook does it say anything about needing a reservation or...
Read moreAfter hearing so much about this place, we went here on a Sunday in the middle of the afternoon a few weeks ago. We were standing around waiting to be seated in the cooler/seafood sales area near the front door - like the sign said: "Please wait to be seated". The young man behind the counter told us to "Move over there so I can serve my customers". I thought, aren't we customers?? We finally got seated - interesting add-on the original seafood shop. I decided to try the crab cake (I eat a crab cake dinner once every two years or so, mainly because a lot of my adult life was spent in the Baltimore area, but I did not grow up eating crabs) and my wife had either the halibut or the cod, I can't remember which. The waitress seemed to know a lot of the other customers and spent a fair amount of time with them. The food came after a so-so wait. The crab cake was OK; you are always told there is "hardly any filler" in the crab cake, but of course there was filler or it won't hold together and just be lump crab meat on the plate. It could have been cooked a little longer I think. My wife's fish was just warm and was sitting in water; not juice, water. We decided to pass on dessert. We noticed that during our dinner, several tables of people had come in and were greeted by the waitress, and they were getting their crabs pretty quickly. I guess the idea at this place is to be a local or frequent customer, and to eat crabs. Anyway, now we can say we've been here, done...
