I don't usually do reviews unless it's stellar or horrible. Tonight I wish I could leave less than 1 star. Absolutely horrible. One guy working the dining room and kitchen. $52 for 3 people, and everything was obviously microwaved, we saw him doing it from our table. All 3 of our plates came out at different times. The beef pattie was like hard yellow playdough with dehydrated dog food inside. (The people at the table next to us threw theirs away as well!) 2 stews with none of the vegetables listed on the menu, just nuked wet meat. One of the stews was on a plate! The goat stew was more bone than meat, the"peanut stew" was just slimy chicken with peanut butter. The "spicy" stuff might have been ground rice and capsaicin and oil. No flavor, just oil and hot. We literally left almost everything on the table and went to McD's. The best things about the place were the music, art, and bottled water. My chef boyfriend was so excited to give me and his son an amazing culinary experience, but has been apologizing to us for over an hour now. I have never seen a man so heartbroken...
Read moreAll day me, my father and my father's girlfriend was excited to eat at this place. We never had African food so we thought this would be perfect. (Clearly not) One person just managing dining and cooking and our food took over 30 minutes. My dad's stew had no peppers (even though pepper is in the name) and the goat wasn't even there it was just Morley bone. I watched my dad pick out 75% of the stew of bones. My dad's girlfriend got a beef Pattie. The beef wasn't cooked properly, and there was supposed to be vegetables in the Pattie and there wasn't. And I could clearly see that from my seat I saw the person microwave our foods. We literally got McDonald's a fast food place and yet we still had a better time eating that than whatever that food was. The best stuff was the bottled water. Start serving that as a main course at...
Read moreI absolutely love this restaurant! I first visited in Fredrick and had an amazing experience. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about food science. I still remember her explaining why she stews the tomatoes the way she does to transform a chemical that can make tomato unpleasant. I have noticed even a poster including glycemic index for many of the items served. She cares deeply about the food served because as she told me this evening “Food is medicine”. I could not agree more. I enjoy the vegan options, especially the cabbage and pumpkin seed stew. It is filling and delicious. I find myself cleaning my plate of every last drop. I highly...
