First Wok Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Haines City

Having moved to the area almost a year ago, I have been working my way through the different Chinese restaurants close to my house. I can say, without a doubt, that First Wok is the worst Chinese restaurant at which I have ever had the displeasure of dining.

First off, the shrimp egg roll and orange chicken tasted of sugar after being fried in the same oil as the sugared donuts. Secondly, the orange chicken was so over cooked and lacked any flavor beyond that of the sugar. Then there was the fried rice. To say the rice was utterly flavorless would be an understatement. The rice was mushy and brown. I took one bite and couldn’t bring myself to continue. Although I didn’t eat much, I was up most of the night with food poisoning.

My neighborhood Chinese restaurant First Wok, HAINES CITY, disappointed me. I ordered vegetable lo mein. Asked them not to put snow peas, but to substitute water chestnuts. Received food it was cold. The teaspoon of vegetables was on top. Nothing inside. The vegetables consisted of one sliver of carrot one broccoli head cut into strips One water chestnut cut into quarters about four mushrooms cut in half. Ordered shrimp eggrolls normally get three shrimp only receive two. Nonetheless, they do have competition in the area and I will try them out. Please check your order before you leave and make sure you got what you paid for because as we know price has gone up!! What a disappointment! I took my friends there and we ordered chicken lo mein beef with mushrooms and pork with vegetables, sadly everything tasted the same with a disgusting brown sauce. Not sure if it was Hoisin sauce, just plain soy, or oyster sauce but everything tasted the same. I will not be going back to this place even though the people were very nice inside their food was not a pleasure to eat. Looks like I'll have to find another Chinese restaurant here in Haines City...
