We love going to Eli’s Tavern on Whitney in Hamden, especially for the delicious lobster roll special that they have every Monday during the summer months! A friend of our recommended this place last year, and ever since then we have been going almost every Monday for the lobster rolls! We live in Naugatuck and yet we still go frequently for the best lobster roll bargain around! The lobster roll is filled with a lot of real (not fake), big lobster pieces inside, all coated in delicious hot butter! It’s the best lobster roll that we ever had! If you are a lobster lover, you can’t go wrong with it! Along with the roll, you get tasty homemade coleslaw and seasoned French fries, which makes it a nice complete meal! Eli’s has a bunch of other delicious food available, such as the huge loaded nachos as an appetizer and the best delicious chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert that we always get! On top of all this great food, the workers are very friendly and attentive whenever you need them! For example, the hostess Michelle is very polite and has a great smile, which is a nice thing to see when you first walk in! Our favorite waitress is Emily, who has a great personality and is on the ball every time when it comes to getting our food and drinks! Even when it gets super busy on Mondays for the special, Emily is still on top of everything no matter what! As long as Eli’s has the lobster roll on special every summer, we will keep coming back every time we could to get it! It’s a great thing to have by allowing people to try out some good lobster who wouldn’t usually get it! We will definitely recommend this place to other lobster lovers as well! Hope they keep up...

We love Eli’s restaurant and the food. We would go weekly on way home from appointments. My husband and I have ordered the same thing for weeks. We went this past Wed night and once again we ordered our usual. Me the onion soup and avocado tower with grilled shrimp. My husband the Hamburger and fries. Minus lettuce tomato and cheese. Always substituted those for a small amount of grilled onions and hot cherry peppers. Always delicious and never had an up charge for the substitute until this week. We had drinks served and my onion soup which I had just started to eat when the manager that night came out and told us there would be an up charge for the onions and cherry peppers. I asked him why. He said that’s how it is when you substitute. I explained to him we have been doing this for months now so I could not understand why tonight. He said his waitress should not have done that. I said all of them? He said all were wrong. I said your giving us a problem about exchanging lettuce tomato and cheese which together most likely cost more then the onions and peppers. He said. I have to charge you. I said no that’s ok. I had not really started to eat my soup and we had not touched our drinks so we were leaving and you just lost your regular customers and business. Now a good manager would have said I will do it today but just for next time you know there is an up charge. He did not so no more Eli’s in Branford for us. We are said because we love the food and location but so sad because of...

Great selection of draft beer. We visited on a "snowy" CT evening and there were not many customers. We sat at the bar and the bartender slid some menus in front of us, then ignored us. Five minutes later 2 guys come in and sit at the end of the bar. Within 30 seconds the bartender brings menus and within a minute or two takes their order and brings them their beers. Still no one wants to take our order. A couple minutes later I get another bar tenders attention and she yells, from 15 feet away, (because it's loud in the bar), "do you want something?". I respond "Yes, some service" and she just stares. I had to motion her over to get her to take our order and I explained that others had come in later but received service right away. She didn't say a thing other than "do you want to order?" and took our beer order. She goes to the other bartender and says "These people are complaining about our service". Is it too much to expect customer service and not be ignored? Shame on wait staff with...

Eli’s does the job! Went for a day hike today and we were starving to stop somewhere promising for dinner. Our local described Eli’s to us as “when you’re hungry and want something that you know will satisfy you, Eli’s always the answer”. Guac and chips were good. Drinks were good. Our meals were good. Staff was nice! Vibe was chill and a cool bar! Recommendations to make 5 star: -not scooped guacamole (maybe smoothing it in the bowl so it looks less mass produced) -chickpeas were VERY spicy. But hey, the menu did in fact say spicy! So this isn’t the restaurant’s fault. I couldn’t finish the chick peas but I’m more of a mild spice girl. I should have known- if you like spice I’m sure you’d love it! -drinks were okay but could be much improved with fresh juices rather than syrup flavors. Overall, great place!! We see why it’s popular and would happily come back :). If you liked this review, check us out on Instagram @andiamoadventure

We had my daughters 1st birthday in their downstairs event space and it was a great time! We have a large family and with a February birthday we knew we couldn't host her birthday in our small home! So we opted for a bunch style at Eli's and we couldn't be happier! Food was good and the drinks were better lol but even more than that they let me have a small section for a toddler play area and a dedicated table for coloring so the kids had something to do! It was nice to have a great event and not have to worry about a thing! The staff was friend and helpful! I had a bridal shower here for my sister like 6 years ago and it was nice to see the service and atmosphere was just as nice today as it was all those years ago!

We ended up at Eli's by chance. We showed up to Quinnipiac University too early, as our niece was 45 minutes behind us, so the cop on campus recommended it and so we went there and very much enjoyed a couple of appetizers including the Adobe chicken flatbread and the potstickers. Because she and her mom were arriving late we asked them if they wanted us to grab some dessert and OMG we got the carrot cake and the chocolate cake and the peanut butter pie to go and to say that they were large portions is a complete understatement! we were blown away by the size and she had the best first night of her junior year ever!!!
