This is a casual family-oriented restaurant themed around the Wild West, with lots of love put into the decor. There are large paintings of canyons and sprawling landscapes, as well as some portraits of cowboys and Native Americans, plus some deer heads. There's a chandelier made of fake antlers. The place is visually impressive and on theme, with dim, warm lighting and country and old rock music. The music was just a touch loud, but not too bad. It's perfect for bringing the whole family, although you can certainly bring your friends too.
We were served some bread and butter to start. Unfortunately, we were told they don't have butter knives, so we did have to use the provided steak knives (which are very hefty - great for steak, a bit less so for the little butter bowls). They're high-quality steak knives, though.
We decided to go straight into the mains and have a Longhorn Steak (their signature porterhouse) and a Flo's Filet (another signature dish). The porterhouse leaked a fair bit of blood despite being medium rare (not rare, for which I do expect blood), and was done on a grill, based on the char pattern. It unfortunately tasted rather bland without the steak sauce, which was rather strong. I'm not sure if the steak was marinated or seasoned much. I would have liked to use a different knife from the one covered in butter from earlier.
The Flo's Filet was great, though. It was done in a pan, so no char pattern. It was very strong on the peppercorn seasoning, but at least you don't need sauce. I personally take no issue with peppercorn, so I was very happy with it. It was soft and tender, and only leaked a tiny bit of blood (which is what I expect for medium rare). I do appreciate that all the hot dishes were served in warm plates and bowls, so nothing cooled down too quickly.
We ordered mashed potatoes and mac n cheese on the side. While the mash was amazing, the mac was not my favorite. I'm just picky with the cheeses I like in my mac, though - I think kids would love it.
For dessert, we had a stunning chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup drizzled on top. It was big- great for sharing - and delicious. The size meant there's a generous amount of lava, which is my favorite part.
We had two servers - we had Anayah, as well as the person who was training her. Anaya was lovely - always very sweet and quick to meet our requests and answer our questions, and very patient as we took some time to peruse the menu. I think she'll do really well here. She also didn't appear phased by the dinner rush at all, which is impressive.
However, my dad felt like the trainer didn't seem to want to be here, which was my feeling as well, and he seemed to get annoyed by anything we asked (e.g. asking for butter knives, or if there's normal lemonade rather than raspberry and strawberry lemonade, or asking for sharing plates when they weren't provided).
And I get it - it's the holidays, it's natural to want to be at home instead of at work. However, I feel our questions were reasonable, and we never pushed the point. We always just said, "Okay, that's fine, thank you." Being frazzled during the dinner rush is expected, but I feel the trainer's attitude veered more into the "I am annoyed by you personally" territory, which was new for us, and a bit unpleasant.
Overall, I think it's okay for the price point. I haven't tried all the steakhouses in the area yet, so until I do, I won't be able to say whether this is the best local steakhouse. I've been to some steakhouses a bit further out (maybe half an hour drive) at a similar price point with better food, though, so make of that what you will.
I'm giving a rather grudging three, because the filet, mashed potatoes, and lava cake were delicious, and it's a good price point to bring the family, but the trainer server...

Then we were escorted to a semi dirty table . Drips of something remained on our tables . Waitress took our drink order quickly . We placed our order for our meal at that time . Lonestar shrimp app , 1 cup of chowder , my chowder was my meal ( waitress clarified that when I ordered ) Husband had chowder , entree with a salad . Waitress specifically asked what order we would like the meal to be served . Shrimp , salad , entree . She returned with the bread . Plenty of time to finish a slice , was warm and good . Shrimp app served . Had enough time to eat about 5 pieces , when aserver came to our table with hubby's entree and chowder for both of us . Waitress arrived shortly after and said " oh my I didn't realize the entrees were coming so fast " . I said to the waitress "my thusband didn't even get his salad" . She said "I know I'm waiting for them to make some ." Salad came out with a cup of some watery off looking dressing . ( he ordered honey mustard) thank goodness for the ranch dressing that came with the wildwest Shrimp. So there we were with our entire order sitting in front of us . Waitress checked back later on and refilled my husbands soda , but not really interested in how we were enjoying our meal . Husband said to me, i think this same thing happened last time we were here . I said I'm noticing the same meal service at each table that our Waitress had . Each of her 4 tables were sitting there with their entire orders served at the same time . Of course we all ended up with take home bags too. We haven't visited lonestar for a while because service and food quality was lacking . I hope the manger reads these reviews and does something to improve things . Maybe some retrainng would help . And smile once...
Read moreThis is closer to a 3.5 than a 4. My boyfriend and I have never been to this location before so he decided to treat me to it as a date night on August 13th. We were originally told that it would be a ten minute wait but we were pleasantly surprised when we were seated in a booth within minutes. Food: I really liked the majority of the items. The chopped Caesar salad was a little heavy on the dressing and the cheese to leaf ratio was a bit off. Other than that, the Fried Green Tomatoes were delicious; the mashed potatoes melted in one's mouth with yummy goodness, and my steak (the Flo's) was wonderful. Even the Roscato (which I tried for the first time) was pleasant to my palate. The thing that kept LongHorn from getting 5 stars was the ball drop in my boyfriend's meal and service. My boyfriend ordered the $12.99 special (which he upgraded to the bigger sirloin); however, it was the manager, not the waiter, who realized that he was short a side dish. In addition, when the soup was brought out, there was no spoon with the soup. We had to request the spoon as well as straws for our drinks. The waiter had forgotten the Sweet Tea and the water, until he was reminded. I feel as if the waiter should have been more proactive rather than retroactive in regards to double checking to make sure we got everything we needed, from utensils to items in the specials to drink refills. All in all, I would go to LongHorn again but perhaps not with the waiter...
