We had our first Visit to the Santa Fe Cattle Company on a weekend in June, 2023. We were seated quickly even though they were pretty busy. That was because we went with a high table in the bar. But it was a good experience. We met our server. Her name was Lydia. She was wonderful with us. She felt like family. Oh yeah, she was an excellent server too. We had to wait a few minutes for bread. But that's because it was coming fresh out of the oven. A little cinnamon butter and a way we went. Then our dinner's came out. The wife got a pile of shrimp. So much that she had no chance of eating it all. I abandoned part of my dinner to help her with her's. I ordered a Rib Eye steak, which was excellent. The prices at Santa Fe were definitely fair and decent. I felt our dinner was worth the price. Obviously we didn't have room for dessert. So we paid the bill and were on our way. Well not until Lydia wished us a great trip on our continuing journey. I don't know if we'll ever get back to Hammond and the Santa Fe Cattle Company. But I wouldn't think twice about returning if in the area for some reason.

We went there to have dinner and was told it would be at least a 30 minute wait to be seated. When I looked around I was puzzled as to why it would be that long of a wait when I can clearly see a minimum of 8 tables that were not being utilized while standing at the hostess podium. Then they told me that they would text me when a table was available. This further confused me as to why I had to give my personal information to be seated. That is data collection at its finest. They didn't offer for us to sit at the bar when they said it would be a wait. I had to ask if we could sit at the bar. We were not greatest with a smile or a simple "Hello, Welcome to Santa Fe!" When I spoke to the bartender I found out that they are short staffed. He took great care of us as we sat at the bar. I don't remember his name but kudo's to him for going above and beyond to take care of us and the tables Infront of the bar. People were just sitting outside waiting in the sweltering heat instead of being seated and explaining what was going on.

You can feel the ship sinking! It’s like being on the Titanic as it plummets to the ocean floor. The server today didn’t help this feeling at all. I have never seen a manager in here in 4 visits and you can tell either the manager is hiding in the back or doesn’t care if there is a manager at all. Food was served separate from each other. My husband got his about 15 minutes after mine so mine was cold by the time I ate because I’m not eating without him. He ordered a chicken quesadilla. She said it took so long because the chicken took so long to cook. My daughter has food restrictions. Her food came out with mine but with the tomato she can’t have. She picked it off with anything that touched it but this was not how she ordered it. The bathroom was disgusting and chemicals have not been used in a good while. This visit I finall found the manager when we left. I assume the red button down shirt with keys is the manager. He was picking weeds in the bushes with another worker.

Review of Santa Fe Cattle Company, Hammond, Louisiana

My latest visit to Santa Fe Cattle Company in Hammond, Louisiana, was underwhelming and left much to be desired, cementing a decision to not return. Our party of five, consisting of four adults and one child, arrived around 9 PM to find the restaurant relatively unoccupied. Initial impressions started on a positive note as the greeter was ready to seat us immediately. However, a slight hiccup occurred when a waitress intervened to prevent us from being seated in her section. Although we were spared her service, it was an early sign of the evening's forthcoming disappointments.

Our waitress, while quick to take our drink orders, displayed a noticeable lack of attentiveness thereafter. The service could only be described as inattentive, which was disappointing in the relatively quiet atmosphere of the restaurant.

The food experience paralleled the service in its lack of quality. The meals we received fell short of our expectations, with most of our party leaving a significant portion of their dishes untouched—a rare occurrence for us. The flavors, presentation, and overall quality of the food did not meet the standards we hoped for, contributing to a meal that was forgettable at best.

This visit was not our first encounter with disappointment at this establishment. Reflecting on repeated underwhelming experiences, we have resolved that this visit will be our last to Santa Fe Cattle Company in Hammond. The combination of poor service and subpar food quality makes it difficult to justify a return visit, especially when there are numerous other dining options available. Our hope is that this feedback serves as a constructive critique, encouraging improvements in both service and culinary quality for the benefit of...

I had call 2 days ahead of the schedule event. And, had waited and hour and 15 minutes before the area assigned to Us, was ready. Which was okay gave everyone time to enjoy themselves etc.

The waiter was overwhelmed by the size of the party group. Which made his performance horrible.

After waiting for hour and 35 just for drinks and food orders to be placed.

We had order Appetizers.. Which was overcooked and burnt. Still trying to give the restaurant a chance.. Time is going by once again... It definitely should be time for them to close.

After (2) hours The Adult beverages were served. Now having to ask the waiter do they still offer rolls. He give a look as if I had offended him..

The food is now being being served My daughter food had hair in it. My niece wings was burnt.

I asked for my T-bone to be cooked medium well. It was definitely over cooked.

My Cousin ordered never came out. And We was told it was placed with another order. Now she's having to wait for another hour. And, management was supposed to come to the table NEVER made it.

While having to ask for sides that never came.

There was 4 orders that should've been sent back. But, We had grown tired of the whole experience.. Which made this one Sweet 16teen Party a disaster. Since this was her favorite restaurant.

We asked for The bill and Ended up grabbing a pizza to make sure her party guess was full.

I don't think I would be returning to the restaurant with a large group or on a busy night.

The Santa Fe crew was definitely tired and didn't care about their...

Santa fe what happened? We use to eat here often but probably won't be back. Your food you really missed the mark by a long shot. A 16 oz well done steak should not be full of inedible charcoal. 7oz were edible. 7 oz in the trash not dog worthy and 2 oz still missing. My sons hamburger over half went to my dog. The meat was fine but the inner side of the buns hard very hard way over toasted. Your death burger once so big it would damn near kill you to eat it all, is now the size of a whopper. And the toppings were missing. Onion rings and sauce were still good as can be. 2 orders of macaroni and cheese were plain tasting noodles with a little melted cheese. Walmart cheap great value Mac and cheese has you beat. The service was OK just ok nothing great waiter was slow and didn't bring basic condiments no napkins and we often sat waiting with empty drinks. $104.86 I paid for me my wife and 2 kids. Alot of money for not so good food and just ok service. I paid my bill I tipped my waiter and didn't complain because I didn't want to embarrass my family. But you can do better you need to do better. You use to be alot better and we won't be back. The atmosphere is still just as good as always. Maybe this was just a miss maybe a new cook or maybe this is your new standard. We will never know because we want be back. I usually don't care about price I buy what I won't when I want without looking at the price and paying the bill without caring about the amount. But this here needs alot of improvement. Do better Santa...
