Juan’s was recommended to us from a friend and we normally go to plaza but we’re excited to try a New Mexican place and now I regret doing so I will NEVER come back here not only can you see from the photos that I ate pretty much nothing on my plate but you can tell the chicken was not properly seasoned I mean it wasn’t seasoned at all the beans tasted like feet, I took maybe a bite off those and the only thing that was half decent was the rice and even the rice wasn’t seasoned the chimichangas were so tiny I maybe took two bites which is relevant for later. I hate being that person who asks for something else or asking to get it taken off the bill but I didn’t even eat a quarter of what was given to me. The server was nice at first until I asked to get it taken off the bill cause I wasn’t even interested in taking the leftovers and he told me normally unless something is wrong with the dish they can’t take it off the bill but that he would talk to his manager. His whole demeanor had changed when he came back he said he could only take 50% off my meal because I had eaten some of it the dish came with two chimichangas and I ate maybe 3/4 of one and that’s only because my partner tried a bite of mine and the only reason he ate his dish was because he smothered it in the hot sauces they had and he even said his chicken was bland and tasteless even the salsa was horrible it literally tasted like a can of crushed tomatoes was put into a bowl with some parsley and slapped on the table, the white salsa was the only redeeming part of the dips, the chips were standard for a Mexican restaurant. When I asked to speak with the manager he said he would get him and then a female manager came over awhile later and said that their policy is if you eat any of the dish even a bite then they can only take 50% off the dish (I assume they have adopted this policy because they get this complaint a lot) and then proceeded to tell me she can’t change it because the manager who our server talked to originally is the general manager and she can’t go above his head to me that is HORRIBLE customer service what decent manager leaves for the day when a customer has a complaint and doesn’t even come over and talk to the patrons and get the gist of what happened and what they can do to improve etc I guess he was just too busy trying to get home and from what I’ve read from other reviews a lot of people complain about the blandness of the food I just don’t get how you consider yourself a Mexican restaurant with bland food how does one mess up chicken??? I mean cmon. If you chose to go here go with CAUTION I’m certainly not going to recommend anyone go here ever. Please take your business to Plaza Azteca or franks monster munchies that’s really good Mexican food and not absolute garbage with horrible...

I told him the owner responded to my review and he said no the owner does not respond to anyone. He said he didn't understand what I was saying. So it's okay to keep a customers money? Whoever is leaving these responses needs to leave a email or name or something. I won't let this slide. I told the man on the phone my next course of action and he said okay okay you can do it. Also it's rude to call a place and ask for a manager and be questioned by someone else about what the call is for.
I was doing some shopping downtown and noticed Juan’s Restaurant. I thought, “Why not give it a try?” So I went in, sat down, and had a wonderful server. I ordered a few drinks and two orders of corn—one of my favorite things. Everything went well that first time. I even tipped generously and left satisfied.
On 5/17/2025, I decided to call in a to-go order everything on the side: two corns with everything on the side. Called the person picking the order up and asked if everything was okay and in the bag, they looked in the bag and said there was only one order of corn in the bag. They had to turn around and go back to get the rest of the order. When they did, the woman who took the order said they would refund it, then placed another order for two more corns which made no sense to me. Why not just put in one more order and fix the first order wow. But it became a whole issue just trying to get “everything on the side” like I asked—
When the second order finally arrived, the corn looked dull and unappetizing. Honestly, I tossed it in the trash.
Like a fool, I gave them one more chance the next day (5/18/2025), even though I still hadn’t received my refund. I asked again for two corns, everything on the side. Same story—the order was wrong when it arrived. And when do they put shredded cheese on corn like that? come on crumbled cotija cheese please.
At this point, I’m done with Juan’s. I’m just waiting on my refund. It’s now 5/21/2025 and still nothing. I’m very disappointed because I love eating out—I don’t like to cook—but this is one place I don’t plan on...
Read moreThe service here was great. The staff was polite, attentive, and all-around great.
The reason for the 2 stars is that the atmosphere was terrible. Inside, the music was too loud, and the arrangement of the bar in the open air center made the noise level from those at the bar echo through the entire building. Because of the inside atmosphere, we chose to eat on the outside patio.
We were hopeful since there was no smoking, and it was pretty nice outside. However, even with clear no smoking signs and staff coming and going, some drunk patrons from the bar came outside and smoked like chimneys without anyone saying a word to them. It gave the feel that the local drunks actually were the ones running the place. The number of flies on the outside patio made it almost unbearable. Being outside, some must be expected, but there was an over abundance. On the way out, I realized why there were so many flies, and it was because where the trash was kept or at least put was right next to the patio.
The food tasted good, but what you received for the cost was completely unreasonable. My wife got a Santa Fe chicken salad. This amounted to grilled chicken strips on some iceberg lettuce leaves with large round slices of tomato and some raw pepper strips on a plate. I got Arroz con Pollo, and it was grilled chicken strips on what looked like boxed minute rice with some cheese mixed in.
Our daughter got kids mac & cheese with fries. The mac & cheese was as expected, and the fries seemed OK, but there were not many of them. Again, the food tasted good, but the presentation and value...
