We arrived shortly after 6:15 on 11/3. We were added to the waitlist and told 10-15 min wait. The hostess was half-hearted in taking my number and that started the issue. After a very long wait at the bar to get a drink before sitting down, we began noticing people who came in after us being seated. I asked and she told me she had paged me already and I never responded, but she was clearing a table and we would be next. Ten minutes and several couples later I went and ask again, now the manager was a bit forceful with me telling me it was a mistake, and we would be next, then added the comment, “Sometimes our system just doesn’t send the notifications out.” Then ANOTHER table gets seated. I was told, “Well we had already paged them, so we have to seat them first.” I did not become visibly upset at the Manager, but my wife was obviously showing her frustration and displeasure with the way we were being treated. The Manager was outright rude to us. So after what should have been a 10 min wait, we were seated nearly 45 min later. Our server, Gabrielle was a delight. She was attentive, without being overly pushy. She is clearly a professional and if she desires to stay in the service industry, will certainly move on to a much higher-class establishment. She has the natural gift to serve in a restaurant environment.
Gabrielle is the only reason this review didn’t get one star.
So after we had finished our meal, I asked the Manager to come over and talk about the issue, especially since we like this place and enjoy eating here. I make an apology for the heated discussion towards the end and ask about why the system seemed to be texting every other patron except me. Again, she was rude to me, took ZERO responsibility for anything she or the restaurant did incorrectly, then dismissed me and walked off. I would have named here too (like Gabrielle the great server we had), but she never offered her name to me.
Just a few months ago there was a gentlemen who was the manager here and he was AWESOME too! I have hope for this place, even though my Wellington was very undercooked (but at least it wasn’t overcooked) and the Sheppard’s Pie seems to have lost its savory gravy.
We will probably come back at some point but it will take a LONG time to get over how dismissive the Manager was to us for something that was obviously within her control to fix and then take zero accountability and simply blame the automation system even though it seems like a recurrent problem.
Or they are just saying that to cover up poor service. At this point, either...
Read moreMy wife and I met old friends for dinner. I have eaten here once before for a business lunch, so candidly I did not focus on the food or atmosphere that time. This Thursday night dinner was preceded by a surprisingly long 35 minute wait, but for whatever reason they were definitely packed.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. Drink orders were quickly served and our food ordered. Everyone (four of us) ordered sandwiches. I will only critique my wife’s French Dip and my Monte Cristo sandwiches. We both paid the $1 up charge to get a salad instead of the homemade potato chips. Based on the large number of customers, the 20 minute wait was reasonable.
For the food itself, my wife and I were a little disappointed. The salad was tiny in comparison to the heaping stack of potato chips that our friend received with her sandwich. A small serving of field greens, two tiny slices of each cucumber and tomato oddly with a large amount of salad dressing. We would have been less disappointed the chips for salad swap was equal, but it was definitely not worth a $1 up charge.
My wife requested no onions on her French dip, but that did not happen. Bottom line, she is a huge fan of French dip sandwiches, but felt hers was so so at best.
I felt that the Monte Cristo came up a bit short too. While billed as a triple decker sandwich, it was barely more than an inch and a quarter thick. The ham and chick portions seemed really small. The cider aioli and gouda cheese were barely noticeable. The cranberry coulis was good, but it wasn’t even to tip the scales.
They were a lot of people there and most looked happy, so maybe we were just unlucky tonight.
One final minor gripe. I inquired about a military discount, but they do not provide one. The server said something about management saying they are in a military town, so they would be giving everyone a discount if they did so. Something about that...
Read moreFood is always good. The place is a little loud.. I've been coming here for years. How many I really don't know. There is always a wait, but it's Tuesday, and joking my mom asked the host when it is slow. Anyhow, I asked how do you base the wait time. She gave a pretty good explanation, which I accept, but I set my stop watch anyway just out of kicks and giggles because a wait time of 30 minutes seemed a little long. So when the 2nd host was ready to sit us, the timer was only 19 minutes... when I went to show the host, I tapped her on her shoulder because she was quick to walk us to the table and then turn quickly away. I was quite excited that they had surpassed the time waiting and wanted to share it. Well, touching her must have been a mistake because she brushed her shoulder as if to say I'm better than you. BTW, she really shouldn't be doing this job.. working in public just seemed way too good for her.. she was like a robot very unfriendly. I watched her walk back and forth with people, and wow, she had to have been one of the most unfriendly staff I the restaurant. The 1st person to have an interaction with should be friendly and professional, not stiff and grumpy. Let's get to the food and wait staff. We'll thank goodness the waiter was friendly and attentive. Great job!! We even had a chat with one of the bartenders he was always Great.. Food was good but not as good as I remember from the last time. We both ordered the Salmon it is usually topnotch. This time, it lacked flavor and wasn't as crispy on the outside as it usually is. We also had the Tuna Ahi it was ok. But the sauce they served was gross. So salty, not sure way anyone would use it on such a wonderful piece of fish. I will give this restaurant another try.. because chiefs will come and go and so will...
