My husband and I decided to share the Nordic Spruce Sandwich and the Swedish Shrimp Sandwich. I wish we both went with the Nordic Spruce sandwich instead. That sandwich was amazing and the rye bread was the softest bread I’ve ever had. I wish I could’ve bought just a loaf of that. On the flip side, I wouldn’t call the other sandwich a sandwich(well maybe an open face sandwich, but that’s not in the description). It was a piece of bread with the sandwich toppings on it. It made it difficult to eat, the toppings would just fall off the bread. I would’ve rather pay $2.00 less for the larger sandwich.

This place is a gem! I love stopping for a meal or a quick snack. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, inviting you to stay and chat with friends over coffee. The staff are very welcoming, and the food is delicious. I appreciate that the pastries are not too sweet - you can taste the flavor, not just the sugar. You can tell that there is a lot of care put into the baked goods, sandwiches and salads. Everything I have tried has been delicious. I also love to browse the selection of Finnish gift items available. Please put prices on your menu and baked goods, though!

Quiet little cafe with some simple sandwich, baked good and salad fare, I had the egg muffin and the chevre and pear salad. The muffin was very tasty with chunks of spinach, ham, and peppers and nice toasty cheese on top. The salad was out of this world. The ingredients were fresh and vibrant, all the fruit was tangy, and it was filling. They also have a small collection of soaps, lotions, jewelry and coffee for sale.

Ever since Nisu opened it’s been a staple weekly treat for me and my fiancĆ©! We love to walk down and stop in for some coffee and pastries, and boy are those pastries good. I really recommended the cardamom coffee they have, but my fiancĆ© loves the the Finnish smooth brew too. They have two flavors of non-dairy creamer available (yay!) and ā€œsugar in the rawā€ along with stevia, so dietary restrictions in terms of coffee are well met!

The pastries though? Amazing! Definitely more European (surprise I know haha) so they don’t rely on super sweet or lots of sugar like you expect with more American takes on European pastries. in my opinion that makes them better, they sit better in your tummy, mouth, and just make you feel better all round. There’s also a huge variety of pastries with an emphasis on Finnish pastries and recipes. Super fun! I love the Finnish blueberry ā€œpieā€, it’s not what you traditionally think of as a pie but it’s delightfully light and yummy. The log rolls are awesome, especially the lingonberry one. Our favorite pastry has to be the chocolate croissant though, not too sweet, not too heavy, just a nice little chocolate treat.

For lunch I recommend the Finnish Lax Sandwich, heads up though they are generally open face!

You can tell this bakery is a labor of love between the owner, employees, and family. She works so hard and it shows, go support her! Stop in, get some coffee, and a sweet treat!

Edit: Forgot to mention, the prices are very reasonable! I’ve gotten 3-4 pastries for...
