I don’t really know where to begin. I ordered the tteopokki with cheese thinking it would be rice cakes and a thicker gochujang sauce stir fried & mixed with cheese. I was pretty scared when it was served to me because it was nothing like I was expecting. It smelled like fish and as someone with a shellfish allergy I was REALLY worried.
After talking to the staff my husband and I were reassured that there was NOT any shellfish in the dish but fish cakes…? Nowhere on the in-person OR online menu does it say that the tteopokki has fish cakes in it so I was taken aback. I gave it a try and… each individual ingredient is good? But together is very strange.
The broth is a sweet, rich, and slightly spicy. The fish cakes have a good texture and have an odd sweetness to them. The rice cakes are good rice cakes with good texture but no flavor. The cheese felt too strange because of the fishy taste in the dish.
I’ve never had a soup-like or fish tasting Tteok-bokki and have had a lot of Tteok-bokki before. I wasn’t expecting the staff to say “it’s usually served this way” either considering I’ve never had it served to me as a soup. My husband has also had the dish before and been to Korea a few times & has never experienced this dish being soup like or with fish cakes either.
I ended up ordering the beef and ox bone soup as a replacement and was just as confused and disappointed. A clear broth ramen noodle soup that tasted bland and more like chicken. Very boring. I guess I shouldn’t be expecting anything authentic to Korean food but I still felt like it was a waste of money and time for the meals.
The drinks we had were good! That’s the only compliment I can give in all honesty but there’s other places with better boba and more extensive options for drinks so, this place is one we...
Read moreNew to the area my husband and I decided to try The Bloom Coffee Roasters in Harker Heights for our evening Boba Tea cravings. The establishment had great atmosphere and I am sure the drinks would have been delicious, the only problem was that we both are lactose intolerant and forgot to go over milk substitutions before we purchased. No big deal, Husband was fully willing to pay the difference of the drinks remade (at this point the server had only gotten as far as ice and milk in the cups). The other server proceeds to stand up from the restaurant’s seating area (from break Im assuming?), goes behind the counter and tell him that it’s against the restaurant’s policy to change any ingredients after being charged for the order and he would have to purchase two new drinks. My husband repeats that he will pay the difference of the new drinks. Once again, she says that it’s against policy in an argumentative posture and tone. So needless to say we left without boba, and did not ask for our money back to not press the situation any further or engage with the server who obviously wasn’t having a good day. We later found out our money was refunded… which in my opinion, renders their policy pointless…? We’re still not sure why we couldn’t pay to have the drinks remade since we were not aware that they used whole milk until after my husband asked. Other than the one server that I’m assuming just may have been having a bad day, the initial young lady that served us was very pleasant and patient. I’m sure we would’ve frequented this establishment, had this unreasonable situation...

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION TO ANYONE! Her behavior is extremely unprofessional and intolerable. I have spent so much money at that store and now I regret every dollar. I regret bringing my 4 - and 5 year old children there as they were terrified by the employee's rage and outbursts. The girl has zero self controll and needs to find a different career as customer service is not for her. She's better off working in a kitchen doing dishes than dealing with customers as she has completely ruined this business's reputation.
P.S. I seriously hope the store owner reviews the cameras and fires that crazy girl. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Every time I come here, the high-school girls that work behind the counter are rude with attitudes. Today will be the last time I spend my money here. The employees need to be trained how to treat customers, how to add simple addition, smile, and not roll or...
