One Bar + Kitchen — Restaurant in Hartford

I usually don’t leave reviews but this has to be said. I always go down to One Bar & Kitchen because it is a good vibe and I enjoy myself. Been going there for many months now. So much so, that I’ve brought many colleagues and clients here. I went down on Friday evening for their 90’s night with coworkers after work. We all enjoyed ourselves. A huge disappointment on Friday night was the lady with red glasses seems to not know what she was doing when serving us our food. She seemed overworked and overwhelmed. It was a very busy night. She comes off as being not customer friendly and having an attitude.

I went back on Saturday evening and it was a nice evening. Our server that night was a very friendly young lady name G (sorry I don’t remember the spelling of her name after she told us) with glasses and brown hair. Anywho, G was very nice. She got our order correct and came over several times to make sure we were okay. I along with my table and a few other people witnessed the lady with red glasses yelling at our server G. Not just once but multiple times. This is unprofessional to do in front of customers at a restaurant. The poor server should not have to go through that treatment at all.

This was not the first time witnessing this treatment from the lady with the red glasses. Months back, I’ve witnessed the red glasses lady yelling at some other servers. Why does she have an attitude and yell at the staff? Especially in front of customers. If she is overwhelmed, maybe she shouldn’t be working there at all. As an establishment, they shouldn’t have someone yelling at the staff in front of customers. That is unprofessional.

I’ve recommended many people to One Bar & Kitchen for months now. Eric and Ct Chef, have a beautiful professional establishment. They have out done themselves. Big shoutout to them. I’ve seen the many articles in the papers about them. Shoutout to the head chef as well. The food is delicious and no complaints about it. Every single time, there has not been any disappointment with the food. Shoutout to the server G for always being patient, kind and professional to myself and everyone that I have recommended going there and asking for her. I will continue to send people down to ask for her. She deserves a raise for her wonderful hard work, positive professionalism to her treating customers with respect and kindness. She is always giving attention to detail.

One thing is if I go into the restaurant and see the lady with red glasses, I will leave. She yells way too much for me. She seems angry and annoyed. She should be fired for treating staff in a negative way. No business will ever succeed with having someone like her working there. I hope she is not the boss because she walks around like she owns the place. Red glasses yelling lady needs to go! She can definitely use some angry issue classes.

Shoutout to bartenders Ellie, Angel and Brit. They have been great as well. I will be back in a couple of weeks and I will be asking for G to have her as our server. This staff here, has been wonderful with serving the drinks and food. As well as having a party here as well. I have referred many people to this restaurant but if the red glasses lady keeps continuing yelling and treating the staff bad. I will tell people not to go there. Like I said before, it has been witnessed many several times over the past few months with her yelling at these young ladies. This is not called for in any shape or form. I recently took one of my clients out for a meeting and we stopped by this establishment. My clients were in town and heard great things about this place. This was my second time here and I enjoyed my first visit a month ago. The food was great both times. The nice young server was very nice to our table. I am so sorry I forgot her name. She wore glasses and had braids in her hair. Very professional. This server was a sweetheart and I so sorry I forgot her name. She did tell us. As I did tell her we would do a wonderful review about her and her great service.

What my clients and I did notice that an older woman behind the bar with blond hair was yelling at this young server. My client did go over to the bar to get a napkin and was told her name was Arlene. This was not the first time I’ve witnessed this. The blonde hair lady seemed very bossy and had a nasty attitude. I witnessed a month ago the same bartender yelling at a few other servers. I thought I was seeing and hearing things. So I didn’t say anything the first time. But this second time I was out with clients and coworkers from my office. Our office is nearby so we came here.

If it wasn’t for our clients, we probably would’ve never came here. How can a bartender treat their coworker(s) like that? Everyone should be a team. The blond bartender seems like a bully. After witnessing her yelling at people and being bossy, I will be going elsewhere with clients in the future. I would not want to have that negative attitude around our company’s future clients.

Only time our company will ever come back or recommend this establishment is if Arlene is not working. She has a nasty attitude and is rude to her coworkers. She should treat people with respect as she would want to be respected. Being mean and bossy is not good for...

I go to One Bar + Kitchen on Wednesdays. Mike Childs live band w/ special guest singers -its a whole vibe. Yesterday 7/17 they had lead singer from Blue Magic for a surprise bday. It was off the ⛓️!! Entertainment was 🔥🔥. Now here's where it go downhill. Arrived before 7p. Had to be 6-7 ppl sitting at the first bar. No one needed service as far as I could see and it wasn't packed. I asked Anitra the bartender is there one bartender working bcuz she was ignoring me and I was the only one standing at the bar.. she then tells me I needed to get my drink in back where Arlene was swamped with 15+ ppl not to mention it was a private bday party area. It was hella crowded compared to first bar as you come in. I assumed bar in back was always for private functions. I know both bartenders but didn't expect that kinda attitude from Anitra. I let it go. Finally got my wine from Arlene took about 10 mins np. Occasionally I may want something to eat to curb the alcohol. The menu is 🗑. 🤢 Not everybody eats oily fried foods. Not once do they offer light appetizers ie: spinach dip, yucca fries (air fry) hummus etc. I live a healthy lifestyle and would like to have the option to munch on something nutritious. Overall I'll definitely come back for the entertainment but not for fried fast food.
