Southern Seafood Market & Deli — Restaurant in Hattiesburg

I was referred to Southern Seafood by a friend. Upon my arrival the atmosphere was very nice and the staff was friendly. But the real star was the food! WOW I tasted the gumbo and almost immediately was taken back to my mother's kitchen it was just as good as hers! OMG!! It had sausage chicken shrimp and my favorite Okra! And the Roux was just right! I also purchased Cat Fish which was Cooked to perfection and not too salty which was a relief I find most of the food in Mississippi is too salty. Southern Seafood has found the right combination by keeping the flavor content up and the salt content down, Bravo! this meal gets five stars. But don't take my word for it! I usually do not participate in reviews , however, this one was well needed !! On November 10.2017 around 12 p.m. I went to southern seafood and ordered 2 catfish , greens, and rice & gravy ! The whole plate was horrible ! My fish was so hard I only could eat half of both , the rice & gravy taste so funny I threw it away , and the greens were idk how to describe . The plate itself looked tasteful , but I know looks can be deceiving . I usually brag on this place , but now I am going to have to taste my food...

This seems to be a neighborhood gem!!! It’s a restaurant and a fresh seafood grocery store. We had the shrimp po-boy and I had a side order of cabbage. The bread was PERFECT and the shrimp had a very lite breading on them. There was so many shrimp on the sandwich they kept falling out of the bread.
