I really hate to rate Chili’s so low, because it used to be such a wonderful and delicious experience for me and my husband. We used to frequent locations around the country when we travelled for work. We haven’t visited one in a long time, and wanted to reminisce on old times. Bad call. This location in Hattiesburg was honestly a disgrace. The chips we were served were broken into small pieces, obviously the last of the bag they had back there. We ordered our usual white queso only to be extremely disappointed that it’s no longer served with pico, guacamole, and spinach like it used to be. It was so gross we requested it to be swapped for the other skillet queso, the one with meat in it. That one was a bit better. I will say our waiter was kind and attentive and helped us out graciously with swapping the app. Then came our usual entree orders - my husband, the fatija and me, a burger. I truly wish I would’ve taken the time to read reviews on this location before we went. There are plenty referencing the fajitas being awful. They were so bland, my husband had to pour sour cream and cheese over them to stomach it. Mind you - our waiter was about to be cut from his shift, and he never pressured us, but we didn’t want to hold him up. So we paid our bill before receiving our entrees. Or else we probably would have sent them back and left. It was that bad. The fajitas came with a pepper that still had skin on it and was inedible. The shrimp were clearly from a frozen bag and microwaved. The tortillas were gummy. The steak was well past well done. Truly no positives from the dish. The burger was decent, pretty dry, but you can’t go wrong with cheese and bacon. However the fries were hard as a rock - I was worried to even think how old they were. So stale and cold they couldn’t be eaten. The only highlight from our trip, aside our good waiter, was the molten chocolate cake. That stood up to our old expectations and was delicious. A waste of money and a disappointing outing. We only took to go boxes so that our dogs would eat it and it not be a total...
Read moreI forgot I did a review for this place four years ago🤦🏾♀️. The things a person will do for a free dessert lol. The service was trash. Granted, she was kinda new, or she just sucked. We sat right across from the drink station. 15-20mins no drinks. She's a little busy so I asked about this drink. She responds ' I don't know why a food runner hasn't brought them yet' However I noticed her busyiness was really her just pacing between the tables that are about to leave and had left. (Looking for tips, I can say this because she would scan the tables and leave the dishes. Not sure if the bustier for this or not. I used to be a server so I know the look) Fast forward the food tasted good, but the presentation left a lot to be desired. The Caesar salad was dry as hell we had to order extra dressing. When you order something like chicken crispers you expect the chicken to be crispy. It was not the server said we ordered them original( like what this isn't KFC) No we just wanted chicken crispers, and didn't know they had anything like soggy chicken on his plate. The replacement was a whole new plate Much Better.( just not how I remembered the past crispers) I ordered the Bacon Ranch Burger. the picture look beautiful and I remember the ranch from Little Big Mouth bites so I was like oh okay it should be good( remembering the first set I ever had). The picture of the burger was Dripping with ranch however my burger was not. We ordered two 3 for me at 10.99 tax, my burger was like 16.00 something, my soda, and my free birthday dessert. The bill was well over 60 dollars. The server rung everything. Separate,I told her at the start of ordering that I'll be using my free dessert coupon. I told her we we're going to do this 3 for me with an old timer and chips and salas. My cousin order his 3 for me, Caesar salad with chicken crispers mashed potatoes and fries. And I'll have this burger but this person rang for everything separate. She couldn't fix it, so the manager had to come fix the mess. I screen shotted my last past review and included it...
Read moreI know Chilis does quite a bit of work for Veterans such as offering discounts, but it goes beyond that as well. Snowball Express, Feed Our Vets, Feed A Million Veterans, Wreaths Across America, and Veterans Job Mission are just a few ways Chilis supports our Vets, and I appreciate all of that. However, the manager of Chilis in Hattiesburg apparently does not. It seems she could not care less about Vets or their families, and disabled Vets.
I explained to her that I was disabled and though it was not visible, it was real enough. I told her if someone came to her restaurant in a wheelchair she would make accommodations for them, which she acknowledged. But since she could not see my disability, she was not willing to help. She simply blew it off and walked away. Other employees there were apologetic and understood my situation, but she did not even bother to offer any help. None at all. The other employees said they wished they could help, but could not. I have no ill feelings for any of them. I even offered the server to choose her own tip because of her good service.
I understand the manager does not represent the whole of Chilis especially considering how much they do for Veterans, including disabled Vets such as myself, but I cannot see myself or my family ever visiting that particular restaurant again. Her employees who said they also are Vets themselves or have family who are Vets showed respect and understanding. Ms Smith did not, even when she saw me talking to her employees. One of her employees approached me to apologize because of what he heard was happening. Ms Smith chose to stand in the background and never offered so much as a word. She did not manage. She did not lead. She did not offer solutions. She did not set an example for others to see. She ignored me and my family. She walked away.
Thank you, Vincent for talking to me, and thank you to the lady who also spoke to me but I didn't get her name. If I ever do go back to Chilis it will because of your words, Vincent. SF.
The one star does not represent Chilis....
