Waitress was very nice and apologetic for overlooked order however no accommodation was offered for one member of our party receiving their meal after the rest were done eating hence eating while everyone else waited for them. Has happened to us before at other restaurants and we were offered either a discount on our tab or the late item was given complimentary. Not so here. And we're not the type to ask for one. It should have just been common courtesy.
Menu items also seem overly priced for the quality. Ahi dinner tasted mostly like blood line. Strong fishy taste.
Miso eggplant, Butterfish, and tempura were good!
Overall the experience was ok but also disappointing considering that we spent $220 for 2 appetizers, 4 meals, 2 sides and 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Special treat for a young local family to go out for a special dinner and choose to support long time local family but quality, consideration and prices could have been better.

Read moreIf you find yourself in Kailua-Kona craving a bowl of hot, comforting, slurp-worthy noodles, let me save you the trouble of searching—Fumi’s Kitchen is the spot. It’s the kind of local gem where you walk in, take one deep breath of that rich broth in the air, and immediately know you made the right choice. Let’s talk about the saimen first. The broth is light yet flavorful, packed with that umami goodness that makes you wonder if the chef secretly has a cauldron in the back. The noodles? Springy, chewy, and soaking up all that delicious broth like they were born for this. Add in the classic toppings—green onions, kamaboko (fish cake), char siu—and you’ve got a bowl of Hawaiian perfection. And then there’s the udon. Thick, bouncy udon noodles swimming in a deep, rich broth that somehow feels both hearty and light at the same time. The atmosphere is casual, the service is warm, and the food makes you want to move to the islands...
Read moreOh, where to start? My bf and I stopped into Fumi's randomly on a Sat night when we could hear karaoke coming from their restaurant, and I am SO glad we did! We sat at the bar and ended up meeting several amazing locals and singing the night away together (loved the mix of hearing people sing soulful Hawaiian songs, then some Spanish songs, some English songs, and a little bit of Korean!). Everyone, including the owners, genuinely made us feel like family, and we ended up coming back on Sunday to have dinner and spend our last night in Hawaii with them. Everything is what you make of it, and we had a great time singing, drinking, eating, and celebrating together! A true genuine Mahalo for bringing us into your family and giving us a great close to...
