My friend and I woke up at 5:30 am to traveled 50 miles to your establishment in order to watch the Cleveland Browns football game which aired at 8 am on Sunday 11/16/2014. We were the first people in line at your front door before your bar opened. Prior to the opening of your bar at 7:45am we noticed the TV in the lanai area was covered so we assumed the TV was not working. We then decided that the second option for us to sit and watch the game would be at the North end of your establishment. Upon entering your establishment we asked an employee if the TV in the lanai area was working. She stated "yes". So, we went to the lanai area and sat down. A couple minutes later the employee returned and told us that the TV was broken. We then went to sit in our second choice spot which was in the northern most part of you establishment only to find out that Seattle Seahawks fans were already seated there (which was ok with us) because we were able to sit at the bar and watch the Browns on one of the TV's there. At kick off time (8:00am) we noticed the lanai area was now filled with about 15-20 Seahawks fans. If your "sports bar" is reserved exclusively for Seattle Seahawks fans (as was evidenced by the Kona 12th fan flag) then please let the rest of us NFL fans know this fact, If an area is reserved for Seahawks fans then let the rest of us know. Do not make your employees lie to us as we can surely find alternate places to spend our money. ...

We stopped by Oceans Sports Bar & Grill for the first time in Kona, excited for some live entertainment & to support the local vibe. 🎶🩵 When we tried to put our names down for a song, we were a bit surprised when the management said it’s $1 per song & that she accepts Venmo, even pointing out there’s an ATM nearby. It felt a bit off, but we decided to stay, share some good energy, & support the place. 🍹

We paid for two rounds of drinks, which were pretty overpriced, & two games of billiards, hoping for some laid-back fun. But it was disappointing to find the pool sticks so worn out & broken at the ends that it was nearly impossible to play properly. 🎱💔

It’s a reminder that sometimes, it’s not just about the money – it’s about the experience, the connection, & the aloha spirit that makes people feel welcome. I just hope they invest a little back into the gear, the vibe, & the overall atmosphere so it can truly reflect the heart of these beautiful islands.

Here’s to spreading kindness, supporting local, & keeping the spirit of aloha alive. 🌺💫

There was a sign outside that said seat your self, so my husband and I walked out to the patio to sit down, just to be yelled at by a waitress about how we were going to take the place that was meant for four, so we told her we could sit else where if it was a problem (there were 3 other couples sitting at tables with four chairs..) but she said "it's whatever just sit down" so we did. She then proceeded to throw the menus at us. We ordered drinks but the waitress wouldn't even look us in the eye, and got mad that we only came for drinks, our drinks then came with no ice and the beer was not cold. There was no line, so it's not like we were taking spots from anyone. Super disappointed. I understand we are tourists and that can be annoying but we were respectful, wore a mask, etc so im not sure what exactly we did to piss...

We had a fantastic Monday night dinner at Oceans Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Kona, right next to the volleyball courts. It was fish and chips night, and the meal did not disappoint—the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, the fries were crispy, and everything was served hot. Service was friendly and attentive, (thank you Michelle V) and since Mondays are a bit quieter, we got to pick any table we wanted. The $6 Mai Tais were a nice bonus and added to the laid-back island vibe. If you're looking for great food at a great value in a relaxed atmosphere, this spot is a must-visit!

Went on Wednesday for the small town locals vibe & $4 all day Mai Tais. The owner was working & super sweet. Locals were friendly. And surprise! It turned into cheap drinks & a D.J dancing situation as it got late. Saturday was entirely different. Standing room only. Slammed! Patrons & bartenders were a mix between cheerful & annoyed. The $4 Mai Tai was now advertised as a $5 Mai Tai just 3 days later. The DJ was back but this time it was so loud it was painful. Good choices in tunes though, both days. Much less friendly crowd on the weekend.

Fun atmosphere, good food, good prices. I had the Mahi Mahi Fish and Chips ($10.95) and it was very good. My only complaint was that they were very busy and a little short staffed so we didn't see much of our waitress and didn't get drink refills. It seemed like there was one gal acting as both hostess and waitress and she was running around trying to do everything. It was nice that the restaurant was set back off the main street a bit so there was no traffic noise. Overall, we really enjoyed this place and would eat here again.
