I just left this place I'm visiting Hawaii for vacation and was drawn to this place because I was looking for a fun lively spot and i could hear karaoke being sung from a distance I love karaoke bars so I passed all the other bars next to it and came in. Looks can be deceiving when it's karaoke night there. My waiter a nice guy with a beard was attentive and the drinks were cheap and decent the crowd was lively but here is what pissed me off to the point I walked out and left this review. It wasn't the disgusting bathrooms that have no legit locks on stall and even the women's smells like a mans urinal but that's ok that's expected at dive bars it was actually the people running the karaoke there are unfair and completely disregarding to the paying customers for whom the interactive entertainment is supposed to be meant for. If your a paying customer and sign up to sing a song here you will be lucky if you get to sing while your there. Not because the list is so long but because the people running it seem to think they are putting on a show for themselves to have fun and continuously skip customers to let themselves, locals/friends, employees who should be working sing as many songs as they want that aren't on the sign in list despite the order and despite if someone who's been waiting patiently for long time trying to get the mic when it's there turn numerous times. It's basically watching a shity concert of the people running the karoke singing which is odd in itself, the employees while they're are supposed to be making drinks singing and the locals who were obviously there friends and regulars. With a only a couple customers getting a chance to sing there's. I literally only saw 3-4 customers max sing in a whole 2 hour span of constant karoke. I came there signed in right after I got my drink I really wanted and was looking forward to singing a song that's why I came there. There were only 6-7 songs ahead of me I made sure because it was late and didn't want to be there all night with long drive back to other side of island. I ended up waiting to sing for two hours and was being so patient not complaining when suddenly one of the guys running the karoke would disregard the song list and start singing whatever songS he wanted. Ok we get it you can do a good jayZ cover. now let the customers sing!!! I even kept a positive attitude when the bartender kept getting to sing songs ahead of paying waiting customers. I even was chill when my song was supposed to be next multiple times and they let their friend cut me and keep singing another song but after 3 times of it supposed to be my turn and going up to the people running it trying to get the mic politely but they would ignore me and just hand it to a friend when it wasn't their turn or even close. They made me feel so foolish and unwelcome finally I got fed up and went up to them to ask them why I could see the list and that they were not only skipping me but a couple other customers as well! The big guy operating it could Care less I told them I'm leaving because they were obviously skipping me purposely and he didn't even apologize. This place seems like it's run my young adults armatures this night on tue night and it's very disorganized and they seriously need to get over themselves and be fair to paying customers trying to have fun too. They ruined and wasted my night I never got to sing not even one song and lost all excitement to keep trying after two hours! I will never waste my time going here again when I visit the big island I'll be going to the other bars. They would make a lot more money if they were to put the customers first instead of themselves. Worst karaoke night I have ever experienced!!!! They should be fired from hosting karaoke nights so they can start a cover band...

Please go here if you enjoy being roofied and or SA’d then told by the bouncer that it’s your fault for being friendly.

My mom got roofied last night and luckily we were watching her and had my sister come pick her up quickly and she recovered and was untouched.

My girlfriend on the other hand was walking up to the bar and got pinned against the bar by a guy she had never even seen before much less talked to and he groped her very aggressively and rubbed up on her. My female cousin and her went and cussed him out after the initial shock of it and he denied it of course. She didn’t think I would freak out because we’re not jealous people but I was obviously livid that someone just assaulted my girlfriend while I was in the bathroom. she wouldn’t tell me who it was because she didn’t want me to get in a fight and I was sloshed so I started going around trying to figure it out and the bouncer got involved to break things up. The bouncer then told me “she was talking to every guy in here what do u expect?!” Which was absolutely not true because I was with her almost the whole night and if not she was with my family. besides the fact that I wouldn’t have cared anyways no woman should be touched without her consent like that and I am not a jealous person and trust her. The bouncer continued to blame my girlfriend and call her a liar and found the dude who did it and just believed him when he said “nah man I didn’t do that” by this point my aunt had taken me aside to calm me down or I would’ve probably handled it myself. Anyways F Laverne’s and their misogynistic evil bouncer who absolutely should be fired. We have multiple witnesses to this to back up my...

Pregnant and on my birthday, my fiancé and I treated like trash by waitstaff not only over phone but in person as well.

I have worked in the food service industry for almost a decade, and I can absolutely understand being salty at a table coming in an hour before close, truly.

However, when your website states you do take out, and we call to place an order (over an hour before close mind you), and am told ‘We aren’t doing phone orders’ and abruptly hung up on, I didn’t find it unreasonable to take the 10 min drive to place my order in person. As stated, I have been on the other side of the glass, upset that somebody places an order over the phone and never shows.

So we get in the car and we head that way, only to be met with unnecessary rudeness from the bartender. While I can understand her frustration with us coming in less than an hour before close, there was no need to slam the late night menu down, and with unnecessary attitude, point out how closing time is in under an hour and our orders need to be placed in minutes.

When we went up quickly to place our orders, because this is one of the ONLY late night spots in Kona, her attitude was better I will say, but when you get treated with such disrespect until time comes to tip, it seems a bit rich. We had our orders in, and our food in hand, and out of the restaurant before midnight (close) even came. People were still up at the bar! If you want your kitchen to close at 11:30 instead of midnight, I understand but that is not what your online or in person hours state. Being unnecessarily rude to people you don’t even know is just not right. Not a great way to start...

I hate speaking ill of a restaurant, I truly do. I couldn't justify giving this place a 5, it wasn't horrible but left a lot to be desired. We went about 3pm so not much a crowd and it was not our 1st choice, actually 2nd because I didn't want to wait for a table across the way at On the Rocks. Needless to say, I probably should have waited for that table. We got a much better view and service as well as drinks at a hole in the wall bar right after this. Drinks were eh to be honest, service was not spectacular ant the food was not something I could get elsewhere or from the grocery store besides the house made pickles. I don't know you be the judge from the pictures. I used to come here when it was Lulu's and that place was awesome! I miss it!

I was debating lavernes or humpys but ended up with lavernes. Sat upstairs, decent view of the ocean and i only say decent because the cable lines cut the view in half. Aside from that you could tell waitress was having a rough day but she was very professional. Bartender came up to ask me if i wanted something to drink then she came to take the order. They worked really well together as a team. First time having a bloody mary. Didnt care for it not because it wasnt prepared right but i prefer a michelada. Calamari and chips were great. Of all the places ive tried calamari at this is definitely in the top 3. Piña Colada smoothie for dessert hit the spot. Prices were reasonable, food was delicious and music was relaxing
