4.5 star: A very sweet family runs this local restaurant! We arrived before 10am and ordered from a grandma.
Two breakfast sandwiches (2 bread options: English Muffin or Sweet Bread slices, meat - choose from the board options, egg -any way you like, and cheese -optional). I ordered both with Sweet Bread, smoked meat, egg over medium, no cheese. I prefer my meat less fatty, perhaps sausage or another egg would have been a better option for me. Nice thick slices of sweet bread.
One order of Ube pancakes. Wow, the 2 pancakes are very large (maybe 6.5”-7" diameter and 3/4" thick) with a small container of Ube syrup.
After cooling down, the order went to the airport as travel food. Syrup made it through security without any issues.
It all traveled very well and were clearly made super fresh. Ube pancakes are fantastic and super fluffy, even the leftovers the next morning were good.
There is indoor seating only on picnic benches. The AC was trying, but couldn't win against the bright morning sun shining directly through the windows.
A couple articles on the wall suggests that this family restaurant contributes to the local community. Very inspiring!
I would recommend and will visit again, especially for the...
Read moreSuper local place with the nicest people serving delicious food. If you have the time, slow down and talk to the nice family operating the joint, they will happily share a little piece of Hawaii, served along local favorites, especially the smoke pork with fried rice. It reminded me of Chinese BBQ (char siu) with a slightly sweet shoyu flavors. Because it’s smoke, the meat is on the drier side, but if you ask nicely, the owner will include some fattier pieces which are rich and oily, but is a nice contrast to the mostly lean cuts. The pork chop with gravy was also fantastic. The toss salad greens were also fresh, which is a small thing, but shows the owners take pride in their craft and products. Don’t expect much in terms of facilities (heavy fan running, but no AC), but the warmth of the owners and the delicious food more than make up for any...
Read moreOur local friends recommend this Hawaiian owned place and we are so happy we went there for breakfast! We’ll probably drop in to pick up meals for our flight back home.
The food!!! We got the Benedict with smoked meat, ube pancakes and chantilly pancakes. Servings were generous and so so DELICIOUS! Our family of 5 (with a teenager) shared these and were stuffed… but still wanting to eat because the flavor was so good.
The auntie who served us was so kind and offered our kids a choice of candy bag from the counter.
And! We happened to be there while some folks played music and it just made our meal so special.
We will definitely go back and share this gem...
