We were a group of 11 people in Kauai to celebrate our parents’ 50th anniversary. We reserved a table at “Rock and Roll Sushi” on OpenTable at 7:15. When we arrived about 10 min late, after having called to let them know we’d be a bit late, the hostess turned to another employee and said, “oh, they showed up.” No acknowledgement of us even being there in front of her. Should have taken that as an omen.
What we thought was a sushi restaurant is actually a Thai restaurant with a sushi bar. One sushi chef. Not allowed to order nigiri separately or soecific type. Only rolls.
5 of the 11 people luckily ordered from the Thai menu as their food came within 1.5 hours. The sushi didn’t start coming out until nearly closing time. And at that it was sub-par. Most was room temperature and, frankly, not tasting super fresh. On Kauai.
While they provided a discount it was a really bad experience overall. Save your time and money. There are many better...
Read moreIf you’re looking for the worst sushi you’ve ever tasted, look no further. Our server was amazing but the 3 wayyyy overpriced rolls we bought tasted a week old. Ive had better sushi at a gas station.
We then asked to speak with the manager, who I’m sure will copy and paste the same response she does to all the one star reviews on here, so we could directly tell her about our food. And instead of trying to make it right, she full sends into how hard it is to run a restaurant and how expensive fish is right now at the market. The avocado was old, the rice mixture was wrong (she says she knew this), and the shrimp tempura is premade and soggy.
I then asked her if she had tried a roll tonight and she replied, “I eat this food everyday.” And I asked the same question again to which she said, “No, but I’ll be taking some home tonight.” Safe to say, she will probably be giving herself a one star rating after eating her...
Read moreIf you know what sushi bar is, then you will find this place to be very far from it. In fact, this is a 3-in-1 place: Sushi, Thai, and Burgers. Only found out about once we’ve got there, but it was too late to go anywhere else. The “sushi” part of the menu only offered tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. The types of rolls were limited to few. The sushi rice was so sticky that all other pieces were falling apart, when you try to take one. We’ve had Poipu Roll (very sticky rice), Hawaiian Poke Salad (decent), Rockin’ Tempura Shrimp (decent). Their $16 so-called premium Poipu Mojito lacked rum and only had two leafs. When only one slice of lime is overpowering the tall Mojito, you know somethings wrong with that drink. By the way, their menu, which they display in their listing photos, have shrunk in half and...
