Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Hawthorne

I wish I would have read the reviews first. I really like JJs subs, but this location is anything but "freaky fast".

When I went there were 4-5 people starting the sandwich line, and 2-3 more working the register or kitchen. And it still took 15 minutes for me to get a sub. At a place that is famous for having your sub ready almost before you have time to pay, the staff should at least warn you about how long the wait will be before you order if they are that delayed.

The majority of the time it seems like there was confusion over which sub was being made, and almost a dozen bags just waiting on the countertop backed up. My only guess is that half of the people there are in training because I've been here before when there were only 3 people working and my sandwich came out right away.

Update 07/2023: Still the slowest JJs I've ever experienced. It looked like a different, more experienced crew than before (nobody seemed to be confused about what to do except the individual on register), but I waited in line, barely inside the door for about 10 minutes. 2 orders were taken and one completed (for someone who was there before I arrived). I didn't have time to wait another 10 minutes to order then another 10-15 for a sub to be made so I just left this time and went to Giuliano's. I should note this was at about 3pm so it wasn't the lunch rush and they did appear...

Update: I messed up using the app and I didn’t select “Make it Toasted”. The great employees fixed my mistake and made me a new toasted JJBLT! Thank you.

The restaurant was also very clean during my visit.

The Baseline: For a sandwich place, the sandwiches must have fresh, quality ingredients, it must efficiently make my sandwich, additional sides must be available, and there should be unique offerings.

Food: Jimmy John’s is a sandwich chain that has several standards offerings. The bread for sandwiches is of good quality, the meats are good, and the Jimmy Peppers are the unique add on. They have potato salad, pesto pasta, chips, and cookies for extras. Sodas are available for drinks at a self serve drink fountain.

Service: Service is good and I got my birthday side when I came in. No problems with the staff.

Ambience: This is a sandwich shop in a shopping plaza. The shop was clean and the bathrooms were...

Bought two party packs for around $100 with tip and got the tiniest36 one-inch sandwiches and was given to me in a peppers box instead of what was displayed.

Went back to complain and showing the picture of the sandwiches on the online menu with the one sandwich I kept for reference, and they stated that the picture of the sandwiches in the menu had extra meat added and were not representative of what you actually get. Total false marketing!

Seriously, the tiniest sandwiches you would ever see with one slice of meat. Maybe cute as finger food, but not for hungry kids.

Thought that I might get offered some sort of compensation since they even agreed that their marketing is false. But no offer was made. Good job Jimmy John's, you lost a valuable customer.
