Tata’s Café – A Bold, Flavorful Feast You Won’t Forget
I don’t know what kind of magic they’re cooking up in that kitchen, but Tata’s Café just gets it. From the moment I walked in, the energy was warm, the vibe was casual-but-cozy, and the staff made me feel like I was a regular—even though it was my first visit.
Let’s talk food, because wow.
🔥 Chicken & Waffles: Absolutely showstopping. The fried chicken was golden, juicy, and seasoned to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. They don’t skimp here. It came dramatically served with a steak knife stabbed right into the stack like a delicious little battle trophy, garnished with fresh rosemary for that extra flair. The waffle was thick and fluffy, not overly sweet, which let the maple syrup shine. Speaking of syrup, the portion served on the side was generous and paired perfectly. This dish screams “comfort food” but still feels elevated.
🌮 Quesabirrias: Three perfectly crisped, cheesy birria tacos that brought me right back to the streets of Mexico—bold, juicy, and flavorful with that rich, slow-braised beef interior. The consommé was just the right amount of oily goodness to dunk these bad boys in. Paired with pickled onions, sliced avocado, and a side of black beans, this platter felt like a complete, thoughtful offering. Bonus points for the roasted jalapeño on top—it added a smoky punch!
☕️ Iced Caramel Latte with Cookie: Whoever decided to crown this drink with a Biscoff cookie deserves a raise. It was beautifully layered and visually striking—definitely Instagram-worthy, but also delicious. The coffee had a deep roast flavor that balanced out the caramel sweetness, and the milk was just the right amount of creamy. This wasn’t just a drink, it was a moment.
🍽️ Presentation: 10/10. Everything was plated like it belonged on a cooking show. Every element had a place and purpose. It was clear that whoever runs this kitchen truly cares.
🌟 Service: Super friendly and attentive, even while the café was buzzing. Staff checked in without hovering, and food came out surprisingly fast considering the quality.
💸 Prices: Very reasonable for the quality and quantity. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
🧼 Cleanliness: Spotless dining area, clean bathrooms, and everything felt well-maintained despite the high traffic.
👀 Vibe: Family-friendly with a modern touch. Great for brunch with friends, solo dates, or just treating yourself on a weekday.
⸻
Final verdict: Tata’s Café isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. If you’re anywhere within driving distance, it’s absolutely worth the stop. Whether you’re craving American comfort food with flair or something with a little more Latin soul, they’ve nailed both. I’ll definitely be back… and next time, I’m bringing backup to try even more...
Read moreIm a big fan of supporting the local establishments. While traveling through LA, near LAX, I found Tata's Cafe. My maps took me right there. I understand this place hasnt been there too long, but with what we got in service and food, I could imagine it will be a staple that will stay. I dined with my wife and two kid, one of which is a growing teenager and will eat anything in site. To start off with, my wife got a latte. It was brewed fresh, delivered quick with a great froth design, and packed a ton of flavor with each sip. My son ordered orange juice, not knowing that it is legit fresh squeezed. That was a real treat, and even better that you can see them make the juice there at the counter. One awesome thing to note, was the food was brought out as it was prepared. So while not like a chain, your food doesnt sit under a heat lamp! Ultimate fresh presentation. For food, my daughter ordered the kids short stack of pancakes. The plate came out with a kid friendly presentation, and my 9 year old daughter loved it. The cakes were not dense, and the whip cream was fresh. My wife then received her Monte Christo Sandwich. This was impressive in that the battered coating was not too thick, and it wasnt greasy. The traditional raspberry dip had a nice citrus twist to it, which made it bright and delightful. Over all a great sandwich and very filling. I ordered the french toast, topped with nutella and bananas. It was insane!!! Absolutely one of the best french toast plates I have ever had in my life. So light, not greasy, bursting with flavor and layers of goodness. And then my son ordered the meat lovers burrito, which basically takes the breakfast burrito to a whole new level. All the breakfast meats wrapped up with hashbrowns and cheese. Then topped with a fried egg and a tangy great sauce. The burrito was the show stopper and my son who eats everything could not finish it, it was so much food. I tried everything, and kept coming back to that burrito. It was fire! The space is super clean and well kept. There is no door to the kitchen so you can see right in as food is prepared. The whole restaurant is new, but inviting. The staff was great. A gentleman named Luis, who appeared to be either the owner or manager, was there and made sure everything was great, for everyone. I cant recommend this place enough. Better than any chain restaurant out there. You can feel the love that is used in the food prep. Its a combination of home cooked meets fancy brunch, at great prices. Tata's cafe is a place you should make the effort to stop and eat it, even if only...
Read moreI wanted to try somewhere new for breakfast just googled and this is the first place I saw, so I said, why not.
I must say getting to this location was a little awkward when following the directions from Google Maps. I think it’s due to the fact that this restaurant doesn’t use their front door that faces Hawthorne blvd, they make you go around to the back, which is weird in itself.
The atmosphere was welcoming to adults and families, you have to wait to be seated, but you don’t actually get seated by someone, you get told, you can have a seat over there, and seat yourself. At the time we went there was no actual physical menu, they use QRS codes for menu, so you scan that and look at the menu on your phone.
I ordered the chicken and waffle with a hot chocolate and my guess ordered the beef Birria with bone marrow and some kind of pomegranate tea, which came in a tea press it was very cute.
As I sat waiting for my food, I of course looked at all the food that the people ordered and I must say their food presentation is on point, all the food looked pretty.
The Beef Birria, was tender and very tasty, I just wish you could order some rice to come with it. My guest really enjoyed their tea and they give you enough to make at least 2 cups right there at the table , When you order the chicken and waffles, you get a half fried chicken and the chicken was seasoned and flavored, and it was cooked well, it’s hard to describe the flavor of the chicken. It’s certainly different. It reminds me of some Asian or Thai grilled chicken that I’ve had before, so it was seasoned and savory, but it had a sweet honey sauce drizzled on top of it. It wasn’t bad but it was different but it was still good at the same time. I know it’s a weird description I’m giving you… Lol, my hot chocolate was cute and tasty. It says on the menu that is three different kind of chocolate and you can definitely taste the quality of the hot chocolate. It feels like a dark hot chocolate so it’s not very sweet, I had to add an extra sugar at the table but it’s delicious.
I will most definitely be going back to try other things on the menu. I didn’t even get around to trying the waffle because I was just all into the chicken… Lol if I order the chicken and waffle again, I most definitely will tell them to put my chicken to the side and not on top of my waffle. I suggest you do the same if you go on the chicken smashes the waffle and then they drizzle that honey sweet sauce you might not want that to mix with your waffles.
I think this is a great place to bring a date, for maybe breakfast...
