Disappointing. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but I won't go back. Came in on a Monday morning after working a nightshift. I was the only person in the restaurant when I arrived, but another (lone) diner came in about 5 minutes later. I ordered an iced tea with lemon. The waitress brought me an iced tea, no lemon. She asked if I wanted a straw, I said yes, and she pulled an unwrapped straw out of her apron pocket with her bare hand and stuck it in my tea. There was a burger steak on the menu that said it came with brown gravy on top. Also came with 2 eggs and toast. I asked if I could get sausage gravy on the burger steak instead of brown. That's where the fun began. She says "well that's the Train Wreck". I told her I didn't want the Train Wreck because that was a cheese stuffed hamburger patty and I didn't want cheese. She said "well, it would be cheaper". I told her I didn't care about that, I just didn't want a cheese stuffed burger patty. I told her if getting sausage gravy instead of brown gravy was a problem, then to just leave the brown gravy off and bring a side of sausage gravy. She finally agreed that it would be possible to put sausage gravy instead of brown gravy on my hamburger steak, and she asks what kind of toast I wanted, and listed the choices (I picked sourdough). She starts to walk away and I asked her if she wanted to know how I wanted my eggs. She told me that the Train Wreck comes with 2 over easy eggs in top. I told her I thought that we had already established that I wasn't getting the Train Wreck, and I wanted over medium eggs. She said "you want them on the side?". I said sure. She also said she wasn't sure if it came with breakfast potatoes (it said at the top of the menu that it did). The breakfast potatoes there come with sautéed onion, green pepper, and bacon, with cheese on top. I really wanted to ask for plain potatoes, no onion or green pepper or bacon, but I would have kept the cheese. But I didn't want to rock the boat anymore than I already had as she was already agitated about the Train Wreck vs Burger Steak fiasco, so I didn't say anything. My order came out fairly fast, the potatoes were quite good despite the undercooked onion and green pepper. I didn't get the cheese because apparently she felt that if I didn't want the cheese in my burger then I wouldn't want it on my potatoes. The burger steak was overcooked (she never asked how I wanted it cooked), and the gravy was pretty bland, but I ate about half of it. The eggs were more hard cooked than over medium, but I'm fine with any kind of fried egg as long as the white is cooked. I got one small slice of sourdough toast. This was all not that bad; the worse thing so far was that the waitress didn't seem to know the menu very well, and was borderline argumentative, but what really stung was when she brought the other diners meal out and he made a comment that his order came out quickly, and she looks over at me and says to him "well at least YOURS was easy". Jeez. With tip my breakfast was over $26. Not a positive...
Read moreDon't expect chicken fried steak. I had been excited to try this restaurant. It was very nice and clean inside. When trying a new restaurant me and my bestie always order chicken fried steak with a biscuit and pancakes with sausage or bacon. Then we share to see how we like them. They barely gave me 2 spoonfuls of gravy for the chicken fried steak but the waitress did bring me more. The chicken fried steak was very thin but had a nice crunchy exterior. I kept tasting chicken and thought they must use chicken stock in the gravy.. but I discovered it was the steak. Apparently they serve a "chicken fried breakfast" aka mystery meat. When I questioned the waitress she got shady. She said it's pork. But she also said the chef said it's a mix of pork and chicken. I tasted chicken... I felt duped. Good thing I don't have a chicken or pork allergy! When I requested chicken fried steak she should have informed me then it wasn't beef. Other than that, I had been enjoying my breakfast. The cheese biscuits with gravy were not for me but the gravy itself had good flavor and the pancakes were good n spongy. And really delicious perfectly cooked bacon. The potatoes had bell pepper, onion and bacon which was a nice suprise. It's a shame they don't let you know they took the chicken fried steak...
Read moreOff to a good start. I'm temperingy review with my understanding that this is a newer eatery with new staff and say it's a solid 3. My perception was overall quality was average. aerving sizes were a little on the small side especially when compared to like restaurants in the area. Quality was also flat at about a 3 of 5 overall.
I had the country scramble and my best attempt to describe is it's as though someone scraped the topings off a combination pizza and then scrambled in some eggs. There were a LOT of black olives which really took over the flavor of the dish.
We also ordered the BLT with tots. This was an unfortunately disappointing dish. Where is the bacon? One strip split in thirds left us wanting for the star of a BLT... The lettuce was also odd in that the bitter ribs were used and there were 5 of them on the sandwich which had to be taken off.
We went on a weekend for lunch and about 1/4 of the tables were empty. There seemed to be a lot of confusion over which server was serving which table and individually what each server had done at each table. Visits from the server were few and far between with drink refills (you're allowed 2) were...
