We stopped here for an early dinner on a Friday night, and we're very glad we did. It's easy to get to off of Government Way with plenty of parking. It has a small outdoor area and an L-shaped dining room. On one side is the bar and the wood-fired pizza oven. The other side is a series of tables and booths. The furnishings are mid-level, nice enough to enjoy the meal and not distract from it, but not anything special. The arched front door gives a nice feel to the place as you enter. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The waitress took our order without notes and was accurate. We ordered three pizzas, the Mafia, the Mario, and the Papa's, along with a chicken Caesar salad. The pizzas are handmade with a very nice pizza dough. The pizzas are big enough to satisfy a teenager - I made two meals out of it. The full salad was also enough for two meals. A pizza is $14 - $20 depending on which one you get. For a handmade pizza like this, that's a pretty good price. If you are in the area and are in the mood for a handmade pizza, this is the place. We'll be stopping by again the next time we...
ย ย ย Read moreBeing new to the area, and self-described pizza snobs, we were eager to check out the popular local wood fired pizza spots. We visited Flame and Cork on a cooler evening at the edge of fall and after a long day at work. I started with the merlot and my husband got a red brew. Both were really tasty. We ordered the feta bread and a couple of salads. My Mediterranean with chicken was awesome and I was pleased that they hadn't skimped on the protein, like many places do. The bread was super yummy! If we'd known how robust the appetizer was we may have skipped pizza altogether! We also ordered the Mafia pizza. The pizza was good, to be sure, but very salty, a little soggy and lacked the kind of "WOW" characteristic to set it apart. In the future we would take the Kalamata olives off-they didn't really go. For a slower night we were surprised at the slower service and didn't love the big room cafeteria seating, but overall it was a great option for some quality pizza and a nice end...
ย ย ย Read moreGreat place...glad I checked it out. Facility is in a strip mall like setting, but done pretty well. The space is small so I can imagine that it can be crowded at times. Staff was outstanding, nice and very happy. Good vibe.
Pizza was definitely on the very good side!! The portion relative to the cost was reasonable. I ordered the margarita as I usually do for comparison purposes. I just love it when they make the pizza like it should be made!
Basil was outstanding and just right! Fresh basil is the only option for sure and a good portion!! The cheese was not low grade stuff and the sauce was nice and tangy!! It was definitely top ten quality!
The crust was very good and cooked in a wood fired oven. I prefer a slightly more tangy sourdough taste to the crust, but honestly that is my only criticism and it's limited.
Highly recommended and I will definitely be back...
