El Milagro is an amazing restaurant in the heart of downtown Healsburg with outstanding Mexican cuisine! There are so many things that I loved about this place! We were greated with smiles and chips and salsa were very tasty! The foood is very flavorful and so delicious! The food is also vibrant and colorful! I got the fish tacos and it came with a side of beans and rice. My husband absolutely loved his meal as well and we can't wait to come back! The food was absolutely amazing and it's definitely worth visiting when in Healdsburg!
The service was also exceptional! Downtown Healdsburg has a mix of corporatively owned restaurants and family owned restaurants. My experience has been the family owned restaurants far exceed in service and hospitality and in quality of the food! El Milagro is no exception! El Milagro is owned by three individuals who are friends and partners and they pour their heart into what they do and it definitely shows! The people that work at this restaurant guinuinely care and it's great knowing that eating there means you are supporting a small restaurant business! They have a location in Cloverdale and after success there, they recently expanded and opened up a Healdsburg location. For being relatively new, I guess the word got out because there were a lot of people dining at this restaurant when we went for lunch.
The atmosphere is welcoming and everyone that works there is very friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has umbrellas so you are shaded on warmer days while you enjoy your meal. I highly recommend this to everyone looking for an amazing restaurant...
Read moreWe went to the original location and enjoyed it. The new location, however, was a different story. The new location interior has all black walls and furnishings. While it may be dramatic to some, I would have enjoyed more color. Having spent the past 2 years in Mexico, we enjoy the colorful culture. We decided to go here when we saw the special of the day was Chile Colorado, as we really like that dish. We started with an appetizer of Shrimp Bites, described as quinoa crusted prawns, lightly battered and fried. They were anything but. There was more breading than shrimp. We ordered our entrees at the same time as our appetizer. Unfortunately our entrees came immediately after we got our appetizer. We could tell our waitress was uncomfortable, and apologized, saying the kitchen was very fast. The restaurant was not busy so not sure what the rush to get our food out was. I got the Chile Colorado and my wife got the Pescado al Ajo. The sides for both were beans and rice. First of all, the sides were barely warm, almost cold. The description on my wifes fish said a garlic butter sauce. It was essentially burnt garlic, no sauce was present. My Chile Colorado was sliced beef in a chile sauce. I make and am more used to chunks of beef, not sliced. The sauce was very flavorful. The beef, however was tough and chewy. It was either sliced incorrectly or not braised long enough. Overall not a good experience, expensive and doubt we...

The service was great, and the overall ambiance made for a casual but very nice overall experience.
The food ranged from wonderful to good. I'll start with the corn and guacamole appetizers, which were fabulous. As for entrees, my wife's chile rellano was absolutely spot on... A true highlight. Also, the sides of beans and rice could have just as easily come from my Hispanic grandma's kitchen (God rest her soul).
In the category of "just" good, was the mole chicken, which had a slightly too sweet, and slightly too bitter, flavor profile for my taste.... Not bad, just not the best mole I've had.
The steak pasila was also good, but could have benefitted from a more chile forward flavor, and a bit less of a "tangy" flavor profile.
I am absolutely ecstatic that we have restaurants like El Milagro to provide us with less common regional Mexican dishes, but overall, I think they are just slightly off on some of their flavors... Not in any way saying their food is bad, but that I think that with some minor recipe modifications, the restaurant could be...
