I've been here a few times for coffee, and while the coffee is good, the service has always been lacking. I was starving and took a chance there for lunch; who knows? This time may be better. Well... Now I know. It wasn't. The two women working there clearly could not handle the lunch crowd; many tables were dirty, and they were overwhelmed. Get these women some help! We ordered two glasses of wine, a grilled panini sandwich, and a strawberry salad.
My husband's grilled panini sandwich was mediocre at best (think forgotten high school cafeteria food), and my strawberry salad had strawberries in it that looked like they, too, were depressed to be a part of this establishment. Our food came out before our wine, and when we were 50% of the way done with our meal, I walked over to the counter thinking maybe they forgot our wine, but, no, they didn't. I walked back to the table and heard glass crashing, and (cue the thought bubbles) I wondered if that was our wine. 75% of the meal is almost consumed with nothing but spit getting us through it. So, I walk over again to the counter, and a very angry-looking woman promptly tells me she will walk over our wine to us. We then see her go past us into the "wine room" and she comes out holding a white wine bottle, wondering if it's ours; I watch her walk to the front again with what I am sure is nothing but longing for a glass of wine in my eyes. Finally, we finished our meal, and then, TADA! We get our wine. Our warm, white wine was served in a champagne flute because there were no more wine glasses in the restaurant (Ikea is not that far; invest people, invest). My husband and I laughed at this whole Cluster-F of a lunch and headed to Masraff's.
To the owners/ managers, please hire staff that want to be there and are proud of your establishment. Train them not to think that they are doing paying customers a favor and then swivel that pay machine at us expecting a tip. I understand that we all have bad days, which is why I've given this establishment a few tries, but it's been consistent with their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my third time visiting Bean & Bottle. Had some WiFi issues last time, but was able to work through it and still get some work done. While the WiFi was slow, it worked intermittently. This time, I walked in with a backpack on (clearly there to get work done) looking for a table. A bit more crowded than I had seen before, but there still 5-6 open tables. I had a nice interaction with the guy behind the counter who complimented my jacket.
After ordering an iced coffee, I sit down and attempt to connect to the WiFi. However, while itās showing that Iām connected, itās not actually working. My computer and my phone say itās connected but nothing is loading on either device. I assume itās because the router needs to be reset so I proceed to inform the team up front of the issue. They make no effort to investigate and instead responded with āthereās too many people on the wifi so try connecting to the restaurant nearby or the buildingās wifi.ā No apology or attempt to fix the issue.
This response would have beenā¦fineā¦if I had been able to connect to those other wifi connections. However, I was not.
So, unfortunately, I had to leave to find another coffee shop and buy another coffee so I could get a few hours of work in. I would have been much less frustrated if they offered to comp my (still very full) drink since only 10 minutes passed from when I ordered the coffee to when I left because their WiFi doesnāt work properly. If youāre a coffee shop and you offer WiFi, your WiFi should work for the amount of individuals that can fit in your space. And if it doesnāt, informing your guests of the issue, apologizing to them, and offering a solution is helpful.
Great space. Decent coffee. Bad for working. Will likely not return,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly, a great location. I'm providing this review as someone who looks for the newest study spots around Houston. I'm a med student so I look for reliable study locations.
Came on a late Saturday afternoon looking to get some more practice questions in for the day. Seems to be part of a larger area of offices or maybe even an apartment complex. When I came in there were 2 other pairs hanging out in the back room. First of all, a quick warning, the espresso machine is shut off at 4pm most days and 2pm on Saturday. The barista was still nice enough to offer drip coffee which I was happy with. Both baristas were super friendly (one seems to be either a manager or owner of the place).
I sat in the back as well but it got a little rowdy as a larger group came in and had some wine. No biggie so I moved to the main seating in the front. There are plenty of outlets here. The tables are pretty small though. The setup in the front is very similar to what you would find in a standard Starbucks but with only the small tables. There's also a lobby area that I think you can hang out in (unclear) but it doesn't seem to have any outlets.
Again, seems like a fantastic place to hang out or meet up with a friend. (I even heard them mention all the wine is sold at retail price!) Sadly, as a med student, I need somewhere a little more reliable for concentrating on my boring UWorld questions. Y'all...
