This is the second time I have tried this place and this will be my last for a few reasons. When I first tried them back in November, I remembered thinking the food was good. I ordered the fried catfish meal with Mac n cheese and collard greens side and a cup of gumbo and prepaid online. I remember thinking the portions of the sides were small. Not what you see in the picture they have on their website. I wasn't pleased with that. I told myself I would give it another try since the food seemed to have tasted good. However, today I did the same thing by ordering online. I ordered the fried catfish with the Mac n cheese, large seafood gumbo and Banana pudding. After paying for the order I received calls by the restaurant telling me I will need to show my ID and the card I paid with. I asked why? She said due to fraudulent activities from previous orders and to ensure that I was who I said I was with the card I used to pay. I understood needing to verify my identity. When arriving to the restaurant, I provided her with my ID and the last 4 numbers of my debit card. She wrote it down in a notebook and asked me to sign under where my ID where she wad going to take a picture. I immediately was put on edge. I felt uncomfortable and that now my security was being compromised. I understood the need to check my ID, but to take a photo of my personal information along with my signature did not settle right with me. She kept telling me that's their policy. However, that should be disclosed before I already MADE the payments. Not after the fact and BEING FORCED for them to take a photo of my ID before giving me my food. No refund was offered for those that didn't feel comfortable with having their personal information along with their signature to be photographed. That puts your customers at risk and possibly compromising my security now too. That is one reason why I am not returning. The other reasons was the taste and the quality of food was HORRIBLE. Nothing tasted the same. I'm not sure if there is a new cook or recipes. But the food was night and day with how it tasted today. The catfish lacked flavor/seasoning. The cornmeal had a good taste but the fish itself was very plain. The portion of the sides were small again. The Mac n cheese was not good at all. It tasted like it wasnt fully cooked/baked and just peppered. When I thought I was getting seafood gumbo with crab legs I didn't realize that they cook the crab legs and crack them for you and put in the gumbo. I looked through my gumbo to barely find any crab meat. And, you know what crab meat taste like from chicken. She said she made sure but there was 1 or 2 pieces of crab in the gumbo. Making it overpriced to barely get any crab. I'd rather have the crab legs in my gumbo. The banana pudding was the obly thing that was enjoyed. This was a disappointment in today's meal and money spent. Read moreUpdate: I received a very salty message from the owner. (Check photos.) My review may be old. But, it is still most relevant. I check. Folks still have problems with food quality. With the message received. Y'all still have undoubtedly horrible customer service skills. So, my review will stay up and continue to be relevant. And, I'll continue to go to Moreno Valley in the Towngate Shopping Center for consistent food quality and excellent customer service.
So, I have been here three times. The first time, the food was great. I was totally raving about it. The second time, they overcooked everything. Since my Man picked up the food when they open it up for you to approve, he just let it go. But the fact that everything was overcooked was disappointing. I feel it was done out of ill will. It was Valentine's Day too. This third time. The items I ordered were very mediocre. The sides were nothing like the superb flavors I had received prior. Before, I was raving about the mac and cheese and greens. But that will never happen again. Even the fries were soggy! So I tried three times and I'll just go to Mo Valley when I want some fish. Big ups to the hushpuppies. Those were spot on. But I'm sure they won't be the same if I were to go and order them again. The employees in front are always respectful and on point. It's the people prepping and cooking. Y'all have to continually stay on the same accord. Facilities are clean and is somewhat easy to locate. If, you know the area and what you are looking for. Just an update. The Owner contacted me, gave me her number to get in touch for a remake and a refund. I messaged her, let her know that I did not want the food just a refund. One has to understand, of course the food would be done right. When the top dawg makes or oversees the production of course it will be the way it's supposed to be. I do not doubt it's good food. It's just never been the same the 3 times I went. ANOTHER UPDATE: So, I'm still waiting on my refund. I guess I'm of no concern since I don't want the food. It's not like I'm B.S'in, I don't lie. Especially when I spent quite a bit of money (EBT or not). No problem, people always think others are all trying to cheat them. This lady let me know that she would refund me for one plate! I spent $80.00 plus, and really? You will only refund on one plate? When only thing up to par were the hushpuppies. Not to mention she is the one who said a remake and a FULL REFUND. I'm just done. I recommend finding another place since this one will disappoint you multiple times if the chance is given. Customer service is delayed to just disrespectful in showing true concern.
